I'll take an "average" QB like Russ on my team anyday.

  • 2× VIZIO Top Value Performer (2012, 2013)
  • PFF Offensive Rookie of the Year (2012)[1]
  • NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month (December 2012)
  • 4× NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Pretty good resume' for a guy just starting his 4th year.

Not necessarily. I know what you're saying but shit happens. He could have a bad year or he could hang out with Jason Pierre Paul and blow off a few fingers. By taking the deal today he has set himself up for life. A bird in the hand and all that.

No I get that.

....but how many QB's have come into the league and over their first 3 years been as wildly efficient as Wilson and then had a bad year (right when they get him his first legit NFL target in Graham)? Zero. Of course the number of QB's who have been as wildly as efficient as Wilson in the league during their first 3 years is also zero so I suppose it is possible.

People (like some in this thread) who think RW is an average QB are idiots. Kid can ball. He is only going to get better as he ages (assuming no major injuries) and the talent around him on offense improves. The only reason RW doesn't have all-world QB stats is lack of opportunities due to bad WR, poor OL and offensive philosophy...has nothing to do with his ability.

He really is a young Brady (in terms of how he is viewed at least). People knocked Brady early in his career too and didn't think he was elite because their offense was geared around ball control and didn't have game breaking players on offense around him. The same thing that happened with Brady (cementing himself as one of the greatest of his generation) will happen as RW and the Seattle team evolves.

Seattle's FO can Pete Carroll are probably be heading out on the town tonight for one hell of a celebration. With this signing and the players they already have under contract, they just cemented themselves as contenders for the next 5 seasons.

Wilson is a good avg Qb who can manage the game(except for last year in the playoffs when he became a turnover machine.) With this signing you wont be able to sign other and u will lose a lot. This is your last year before you guys start losing player and you will have to rely on him to win games and that's not what he does. Its your D and your running game.

Im not saying he sucks but he isn't even close worth 22 mill. He isn't a QB that will take over games and be the main reason you win. Facts are you guys have a great D and a great running game. He just needs to manage the game.

I make total sense. U guys are just blind and cant see the truth. If you think he is worth that much you are insane. U will see the after math of this signing next year. This year will be fine.

im right there with ya buddy

his averages are 16-26 for 200 yards and a TD

people scream "but look at the 900 yards rushing!!!"

then forget to look at vick, vounce young, etc...

legs are a nice secondary tool, but they eventually fail you...then you have to be an actual QB.

ok he is above avg not avg but still isn't great. take that great D and that great running game and see what happens. We will find out in the next few years.

sorry for the avg talk. He is better then half in the league so I will say he is above avg. For that money he needs to be great Top 5 talk and he isn't. That's my point.

So there was talk that the Seahawks were going to get Wagner signed today...Is that still getting close to being done or does this deal make that a little more impossible?

Good thing they already signed Sherman, Thomas, Kam, KJ Wright, and Beast Mode to long term deals then. Bobby Wagner on the way to getting done too.

And Wilson is probably figuring that by the time this deal expires, there will be a team in Los Angeles and he can have the big stage he craves.

Really? He's thinking about a hypothetical team that doesn't exist? And if they do in 5 years, LA will get some top 5 pick-garbage franchise moving there. Doubt he'll want to spend his 30s in a place like that.

Yeah lets see what happens when u cant sign anyone and you will have to rely on him to win games. remember D and running game got you guys where you are. He was a good game manager except for he playoffs this year with his turnovers.

RW has come in and has around a 100 QB rating over his first 3 seasons.

In the 4 years before RW got to Seattle, they were a bottom 10 offense every single season. With him there, they have been a top 10 scoring offense all 3 seasons. And in the meantime they did NOTHING to improve that offense that entire time (they tried a couple times but went after the wrong players that never ended up contributing much) other than just Wilson until this year with the Graham trade.

For Seattle that is the great thing about them being capped out and not having a ton of cap space to go out and get impact offensive players: They already have a top 10 scoring offense without them. Even with just the draft and no more FA moves, they are likely to have a more talented offense around Wilson than they have had the last 3 years.
