I

I might be dead wrong, but I don't think you can do sign and trades if you are over the cap (which the Cavs are/were).
U can because both players will be about the same price and both would be sign and trades. They would match salaries.

Yeah, that makes sense. If memory serves, part of Dan Gilbert's bitchfest over the CP3/Pau trade was that it gave the Lakers some luxury tax relief because Pau made a good bit more than CP3 at the time.

Yeah it really is. Tag team Aldridge with Thompson and Moz wow. They should resign Della but let go of JR Smith.

Yeah, even though he ultimately showed why he isn't a starter, I thought Delly had a much more positive impact on the series than JR did.

Yeah Della would be a good pack up. Cavs fans need to know they wont be able to sign everyone. some players will leave.

Cleveland needs to improve their bench depth and Shumpert and Smith are not it.

Here's a summary of the new rules:

  • Sign and trade contracts are reduced to a maximum of 4 years, with 4.5% percent raises. These are the years and raises used for non-bird players. In the past CBA, you could give the player maximum raises for maximum years if you had their bird rights, which would be 7.5% raises over 5 years in the current CBA.
  • Teams more than $4 million above the luxury tax cannot receive players in a sign and trade deal. If a team acquires a player in a sign and trade deal, then the team cannot go $4 million or more above the luxury tax for the remainder of the salary cap year. There were previously no restrictions.

I was listening to LA sports radio today and almost everyone said it was ridiculous that Iguodala got the Finals MVP award. They compared it to giving the award to Robert Horry, Rick Fox, or Trevor Ariza. They agreed that Iggy played great but said it was Steph that clearly drives everything the Warriors do(which is pretty obvious). Iguodala was their MVP "among the supporting cast for the W's" but not the Finals MVP in their opinion. Definitely, a minor point of contention but interesting to hear their takes nonetheless.

Yes they wont be over because they are giving the same amount. Aldridge and Love both will get max money. basically both teams will sign their own players and then be traded for each other. No harm no foul.

Well the LA radio people aren't very smart. With out iggy u don't win. no one else would be able to defend LBJ. Plus Iggy gave you production from other places. He was by far the MVP. Curry had 1 good game maybe 2. If curry went off in game 6 then curry would of won it.

Iggy gave u the best D and 2nd best offense on your team. I think they just need something to talk about because I think most would say Iggy was by far the MVP. Everyone wants to talk about offense but people forgot about D. Look at last year and the job Leonard did against LBJ. He won MVP.

I'm confused then.
I'm reading it as :

A. If you are more then 4M over (current team salary), then you can't do it. Period.

Wouldn't part B only kick in if you can get past part A.?

Warriors don't score 70 points without Steph IMO. Also they still beat them no matter what IMO. Love iggy doe

I don't know, its a good question. it makes sense for the trade to happen because its not like either team will add money to their original cap hit. Its not like Cavs are trading a 1st rd pick and JR smith for Aldridge and take on way more money. to trade for Aldridge they will have to be with reach of his salary to make a trade work. Love would match Aldridge.

Anyone have any info on this?

Same thing with lebron
Curry was not the MVP of that series. It was clear as hell. Don't get me wrong he is very important to GS but what Iggy did was awesome. Stats don't lie and his D and being 3-0 when he came into the starting lineup proves that. U do know he held LBJ shooting 22% in the series when he was guarding him. Overall LBJ shot 39% LBJ owned Barnes and Green.
