I tried to stick up for Cruz when he was here and many wanted to kick him when he was down. He is lousy when going straight back for a ball but otherwise good enough and has a gun for an arm. And when he is on with the bat he can carry an entire ball club. I did not want to lose him and felt we should have pushed a little harder to keep him. Sometimes we seem to be ready to get rid of our own. Talking about the fans and the media. I did not mind losing CJ, Josh and MY as they were all at the appropriate times as stated above. But Cruz I felt was different as he was one of the guys like Napoli was and good for team chemistry. MY was too but there was just no place for him.

I wanted to keep Cruz too and wanted him to be the DH/OF. If I knew how much I would dislike Rios I would have traded him. There's no doubt I would rather have Cruz than Rios in RF. The amount of extra bases taken on our COFers has gone up drastically.

I said repeatedly that if Rios was our #5 we would be in trouble. I had a lot disagree with me.

I'm with ya all the way. If you listened to some on here you'd thought Cruz was the worst OF in the history of baseball. And I think your overall assessment of Cruz's OF abilities/shortcomings are right on.

But do keep in mind in regards to Napoli, we were not going to offer him what the Red Sox did and I didn't blame us at all. Loved the Napman, but he got a terrific opportunity with Boston, albeit coming in a real roundabout way.

]Hart was an idiot.[/B] Pudge hit his hand on the batters helmet making a throw to 2nd and it put him on the DL so when they traded him he stated that he felt Pudge was beginning a downhill ride because of catching so many games. I thought what a knucklehead reason because there was nothing that backed that up. Pudge ends up in 2 WS while winning 1. Plus Hart wanted Cat to play 2nd as he did not like MY. What a joke.

Hart was also an overbearing, egotistical asshole as well.

But, as far as him trading Pudge and his thought process involved, he had a boat load of evidence to back him up on this. He laid out how catchers after X number of games - believe it was 1100 - and how they went backwards fast after this due to the obvious rigors of the position.

I can remember at the time of although hating the idea of losing Ivan, seeing where it may have been a good thing from an organizational, long term. It just didn't work.

Unfortunately for him and the Rangers, Pudge was a freak in not only his abilities but in his stamina as well. And the trade didn't just bite us, it chewed us a new one.

He used that Jimmy Johnson logic (before Jimmy was even on the radar) of "I'd rather trade a player a year to early as a year too late."

Huge series in DET between the Tigers and KC. Tigers up 3 in game 1.

The Royal's starter, Guthrie, put them in a huge hole. And Frasor helped none.

New thread up. I like this, because I get to be silly and make jokes about the other teams names.

Well, considering he's never had this type of year here, I will stick to my original point. Saying he would have the same type of year if he was here is absurd. While it's possible, there's no way to know.

He was off to a damn good start last year before the 50 game suspension, who knows how that would have ended up

I sincerely have no opposition to you finishing up the year starting all the game threads, have fun!
