We all remember when Brett Farve was getting a little long in the tooth in Green Bay and had Rodgers waiting in the wings. I don't know that, had Brett not retired (then unretired, etc) and left the Packers that Rodgers would have been able to remain with the Packers. I think he would have been snapped up by someone else and GB would not be sitting pretty with one of the best QB's in the league.

I can't help but wonder if the Pats are in that same boat.

Tom is getting up there in years (37, I think) and while he can still be productive, his best years are behind him.

I could see Tom hanging on if the QB waiting in the wings was no more than a career backup but from what I'm hearing, Mallet is a strong QB ready to go. No, he's not Tom Brady but people talk like he's better than most out there.

If the Pats wait much past this year, they could lose him.

He was drafted in 2011 so he's getting near the end of his rookie contract. If the Pats don't move on him following this season, I think someone else will.

Should Brady do what's best for the Pats and retire after this season? Should he keep playing until he drops like Farve?

There's a tipping point and I think the Pats and Brady are approaching it.

Um...how many have I started?

And you didn't answer the question. Should Tom retire after this season so Mallet can stay with them or should Tom stay, allowing Mallet to leave?

Oh, is that so? Tell us more about how and why you're impressed with Mallet. Troll.

I don't think he's got the body wear and tear that Favre had so that helps. And I don't think he's on the decline at all. He's good to go!!

Nah, he's get a few more. Until he starts showing a significant decline, still good. I'd say there's no reason Brady can't play into his 40s. The guy barely gets hit season in season out and doesn't have to scramble at all...

In this thread?

"Tom is easily the GOAT and a world-destroyer!"

In the thread asking for excuses about why the Pats will go yet another season without a Lombardi despite being absolutely STACKED with the best offense in the league?

"He can't do it on his own."

Someone could teach a graduate-level college course on the psychology of a delusional Patriots fans. There's literally not a single fan in all of American sports like these guys.

But to answer the question of the OP, I hope Tom Terrific sticks around til he's 45 because he's getting more homosexual and eccentric every year as his skills erode. In the next 7-8 seasons he will have drug this franchise to a whole new level of futility. I can't fucking wait.

:agree:

Just imagine if Peyton could have played one single season of his career with a monster OL like Tommy has enjoyed his whole career? Wow! :surprised:

You obviously weren't on twitter today. Check it to see what all the pundits had to say about Mallet. He's a top 10 NFL QB right now and he won't even be able to take a single snap because Tom Terrific has Kraft in his back pocket like Aaron Hernandez did.

Work and gym homeslice, I'll try but not easy. I think Brady only plays like 3 more years for Pats and then Denver pays him crazy money to help them win first SB since Elway retired

Brady is very much near the end. He said he wants to play to his 40's or something but he will not have the tools for that IMO.

Mallet has a strong arm for sure and could maybe take over the reins but you rarely see franchise QB's like Brady, Manning and such. They are just a cut above everyone else.

IMO Brady's departure is direcetly connected with BB's departure. I believe that if both think they can get the job done they will both be here. I do not see BB starting over again with a new QB.

Pats drafted that QB in second round, so he is a viable starter in 4 years. Pitt should pick up Mallett and get back to the promised land and make the stairway

I'll be interested to see what kind of year Brady has this season. He definitely showed signs of decline last season (especially in the AFC Championship game). I think part of that could be due to the lack of talent at receiver, but I also think he wasn't nearly as accurate as he was in years past. If he has a similar year or worse, I think the Patriots would be wise to move on from him and resign Mallett, if he's truly as good as a lot of people seem to think he is.
