What is the value of the WS metric then, please enlighten me because your metric is telling that Lowry was more valuable than Toni Parker this season. Maybe the Spurs should have made a trade for Lowry during the season.

Oh, I get it. You don't understand win shares. Why didn't you say so...

You are the one using win shares to compare players. I used it to compare 2 players the same way you did and it highlighted a result you didn't like so now you want to say I don't know about win shares when I was just using your methodology.....lol

Darrell Armstrong joined the Magic in 1994. That is why they won the East. - sportsman

Did Darrell Armstrong just come off a season playing with a team where his team lost in the EC semis to the eventual EC champs while being a starter then said team's record fell when he left?

 I'll answer for you.....................NO

Reading most of this thread is downright hilarious. As bk pointed out, it's different times now. The 90's was a dominant center-era. We're talking about Joakim Noah possibly being the best center in the NBA. Back in the 90's, he's probably be on the bench for half of the teams in the league.

I also find it funny that some Lakers fans like to say that Jordan's Bulls and the 2000-2002 Lakers would've annihilated this year's Heat. Like you guys haven't been wrong with your series predictions as it concerned the Pacers and Nets.

By your logic then Orlando should have beaten the Bulls in the 96 playoffs. They had Ho Grant. Right?

Here's the worse part of the Horace Grant statement... and maybe this has been covered, I'm not reading 15 pages of comments... the reason I think Miami wins the series is because Horace Grant and not the Worm is on this team. IMHO, I think the second bulls 3 peat was a better team than the first bulls 3 peat. But hey...just an opinion. The Heat could move LeBron to power and for Horace Grant to deal with Lebron.... GAME OVER.

What does that have to do with how the Heat would do vs. those Bulls and Lakers teams?:noidea:

Ummm...didn't the Bulls find a HOF replacement for Grant by then? Rodman? It shows the value of Grant that the bulls needed someone of HOF caliber to replace Grant to get back on top....Wow....Grant is more valuable than I initially thought.

Part of what made Jordan so special is he played in the center dominated era and won from the guard position. The Lakers run in the early 2000s was the last of the center dominated teams. This Spurs team to me is a hybrid. If you noticed when the NBA redid the hand checking rules, that's when the wing players really started taking over the league as the huge stars that won titles. Before then.. it was forwards and centers.

The Heat have shown themselves to be vulnerable to teams with a strong presence (especially defensively) in the paint. Can't really compare a team with 175 year old KG and missing Lopez and a team with Hibbert and David West to Shaq.

In the games that the Heat lost or where the games were close in those series, it was mainly because they were forced to settle for jump shots and got exploited in the paint a bit on defense.

Another part of what made those Bulls teams special was their defense. While the Bulls centers during that time were nothing special offensively, they were very solid defensively and then you had the power forwards, particularly during the years that they had Rodman.

The heat are no slouches on defense either. I will put it this way.. I think the heat would find it more difficult to beat the early 2000s lakers than the first 3 peat bulls. The first 3 peat bulls matches up so perfectly for Miami. No real inside presence. A jump shooting PF, a weak PG. Cant actually play these games, so it will always be a debate. Also, any debate involving Mike Jordan always ends with Mike Jordan winning because of his sheer popularity. Saw something the other day that said Jordan is still the most popular basketball player around.. hasn't played in over a decade.

So come on. Tell us all how Jordan is worth only 2 additional wins and how Ho Grant really made the Bulls run. Please tell us that...

I think it's fair to say that the 00-02 Lakers would have been favored against the Heat, but to totally dismiss them and say they would have no chance and get annihilated is pretty silly.

The only teams the Lakers annihilated during their run were bad teams. The elite teams they faced took them to the brink and to this day I still believe the Kings beat the Lakers in that game 6.

As for Jordan's Bulls, the Heat would match up with them very well. Of course the Bulls have the ultimate trump card in Jordan, because anytime any debate or argument involves Jordan people will side with him, but I think the Heat would have as good a chance to beat them as any of the finals team the Bulls faced off against.

Lol as for the Thunder argument. If you thought KD and WB struggled against the likes of Tony Allen...imagine them being clamped down by Jordan and Pippen. And Shaq would force Perkins into early retirement.

Yeah, that's true. Shaq makes a huge difference.

Are we assessing Jordan's value now too? Why are we going off on tangents now?

You should really go back and watch the 2001 playoffs.
