I always like McFadden, but I think we need another veteran so it might be Thomas but I don't know if he can play press. Miller from Buffalo is also not terrible.

Word is that we're expected to sign a defensive back once cuts are finalized?

Who do you guys think we might add?

3 names that jump out front for me are rookie 5th rounder Shaquille Richardson, whom the Steelers cut today, 2014 4th rounder Leon McFadden, cut by the Browns, or veteran Terrell Thomas, cut by the Seahawks.

It won't matter. Some teams 6th DB becomes Detroits 2nd best DB.....It still won't matter.....The decisions to correct the secondary were made months ago in FA and the Draft....We didn't correct it so therefore the secondary will still suffer.

I'm sorry, but being a realist takes time. Just know all season while you watch the Lions play no lead is safe.....That's a sucky feeling.....I'm a Tigers fan and our Bull Pen blows.....No lead is safe EVER!!!!!!....

The Lions will have the same problem.....


I watch the Seahawks and think the exact opposite.....Just give me a field goal and end the game 3-0.....This is a different feeling watching a game.

Did I hear correctly? Did we cut Chris Greenwood? They didn't even give him time to develop into a pro bowl CB. Looks like Bentley is the only one left out of our 3 CB draft of 2012. Not good. Especially since our 2011 draft class has exactly one player left on the roster and he is a back up right now (Fairley).

NaughtyMax brought up Dmitri Patterson on anther thread. He's a real possibility as well... kind of been up and down over his career, but was playing some good ball for the Jets last year before getting hurt.

He's got size and speed and can press, but he's also a gambler. Worth a look though.

I'm also hearing more and more rumblings or a trade for a CB, but I will say that one of the other board members put it together a couple days ago with the news of the Quin re-structuring...

The fact that the lions are once again left to sign other peoples releases to "bolster" their secondary should irritate even the biggest kool aid drinkers. Year after year the lions fail to address their biggest weakness and year after year the lions trot out a bunch of nobodies. I cant imagine how good their defense would be if they even had two average CBS. It would be very, very good. They would actually be a legit playoff team even if stafford struggles. As it is, stafford needs to be perfect for the lions to have a winning season.

Isn't Patterson the head case from the Jets that went AWOL for over a week without letting anyone know where he was during training camp?

If so -- I don't think the Lions will go near him -- they don't want any distractions this close to the start of the season.

except my word is infuriate. I was not a huge Dennard fan but would have accepted him or any DB in 1st or 2nd...at least showing a sign of change.

By not taking one and then cutting Green and Greenwood is why it infuriates me.

So one thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is dropping Quin down into the slot once Digs is back in there. Abdul-Quddus looked pretty decent out there on Monday night. When we have to go into the nickel it seems like Quin as the nickel back and A-Q at free safety wouldn't be the worst package we could throw out there...
