I agree. Best WR duo in the league. 2nd best scoring offense. Good playcalling and coaching.

In Tampa, he has one of the worst offensive minds in the NFL, in Lovie. Relief "pitching" is different from starting all 16 games. He should do alright, but nowhere close to what he did in Chicago this last year.

I would like to weigh in here... Couple things I believe:
1. Josh got paid. Good for him. He played well. Good guy, good teammate.
2. Nobody was going to pay him before this season. He was coaching HS football in 2011/10
Ingredients that made McCown $: one part Trestman,
Two parts Marshall/Jeffery,
One dose Bad Cowboys D (on national TV)
A dash of meatball Bear fans "start McCown over Cutler" talk
A smidgen of luck- couple dropped Ints. Couple Highlight reel catches
I don't grudge McCown one bit, he helped keep the Bears competitive when Jay was down. Wish him luck, but I don't see him doing anything in Tampa. I would be shocked to see these same numbers next year. More likely we will get his career average... Lovie will stick with him for better or worse.

This is my opinion and is subject to interpretation and has a possibility of being completely wrong. I know my GF thinks so. Cheers! Go Bears!

And yet Cutler has thwse same ingredients..........Same results as McCown.hmmmmm
And luck dropped ints.........ALL qbs have the same luck.....hmmmm

And I agree with the Tampa sentence.

I'm not saying he's wrong. We still need a back-up quarterback. Cutler's injury history as it is. But I just don't think Josh was as "special" as people want to believe. Nothing against him... but his career numbers suggest that last season was not the norm.
I do think that with Trestman- we can have a decent backup. I'm not too worried. Plus I think jay plays the whole year all 19 games! SB!! :suds:

Cutler has an injury history ?........Nah,just ask some of these guys here.He has no history of injuries.

I hope you are right.Cause now JM is gone,we have no backup. It could really be a horrible season next year IF he goes down.
And if he goes down,he needs to be ran out of town.......There will be no excuses for him next season...........Right guys? He has all the components correct?:hope:

Joey, of the years Cutler was in chicago, he didnt even look at his backups, it seemed he saw them as threats, let alone talk to them on the sideline or want to listen to what they are seeing safeties and cornerbacks doing that might have him throwing a bit earlier or later. Hanie was a joke, all cutler did was walk away, same with Campbell. Josh was the only guy that Cutler actually acknowledged on the sideline. I am not saying Josh was his coach, his confidant or his ball washer, he was just involved. That is what will be the bigger loss this year. We will probably see them sign a name ex starter to come in and backup and if cutler sees him as a threat, we will be back to three or four years ago and a qb that enters the game WHEN cutler gets hurt and cannot do a damned thing.

But then again, it was Cutler on his best behavior, looking for his 100 million dollar deal and for all we know regardless of who is his backup he might be back to the arrogant prick and it wouldnt matter if Josh was here or not, but in that case, this is a bigger loss. We arent losing the Peppers that teams game planned for, double teamed constantly who turned games around. We lost the aging peppers that showed up for 2/16 games last year.

You think the same way I do........Which is not good.

No hate in my body......just realistic thinking......if the offense under Josh would have done better....you can win games your defense doesn't play up to par.....
and stats does not win games

Would have done better.....Hell he did just as good as cutler did.And you could say the same about Cutler.

Tell me when cutler had a 300 yd game, let alone having back to back 300 yd games.

Not sure how much you drink but it may be a good ideal to stay sober while you are trying to understand what people are saying..... I have expressed my discontent with Josh Montana's play against the 2 last place teams....PERIOD. ......Where you come up with the shit you post is beyond me. Josh lost to 2 last place teams and all you can do is blame the defense as if the offense doesn't need to hold up tgeir end of the game...... Josh Montana is in Tampa now

if stats is all you care about then you don't care as much about winning

Im not a stats guy...I care more about wins. Its better to have a balanced offense than a 1 dimensional offense.

Week 4 and 5.....317 and 358. ...18 times in his career. ...

Tell me when Josh Montana has won more than 2 games in a row????

How many games with 300+ yards passing did Josh win?

You care about wins, cutler was 5-4 beat the bad teams of vikings, steelers, giants, browns, beat bengals, lost to Saints, Lions, eagles and packers.

McCown was 3-2 beating packers, cowboys and ravens lost with no defense to rams, vikings and lions.

Redskins game in mccowns first game both played, but Josh was 14-20 for 204 and a touchdown, Jay was 3-8 for 28 yards and an interception.

The more you dissect it, Care about wins, its at best even and no reason to run McCown thru the mud as a waste of a jock strap. This team won super bowls with average quarterbacks and great defense. good quarterback and good defense has made runs, supposedly great quarterback and no defense wins nothing.

VS THE RAMS: 36-47-352-2 tds.Bears gives up 258 yds rushing.
Vs the Vikes 26-36-355-2 tds.Bears d gives up 211 yds to AP.

Damn..............Now if only Josh could`ve done more,he would have won them games for us.

So what you are telling me is that our offense couldn't play as well as the Rams offense.? So no matter what, if the Bears defense plays bad the Bears (Josh Montana) has an instant excuse. Our offense was the 2nd bst scoring offense in the league,

Where are the 3rd down conversion stat in those games? You giving a stat line for his passing means diddly squat.....he has more to do then just pass the ball. Look at the Steelers game? The defense played badly in that game and yet Jay didn't have McCown type stats ,,,,,,,but they freaking won.

apparently you have no idea what a defense is............:L

Bears 8th in total offense...........2nd in scoring.

Rams offense 30th in total and 21st in scoring.

Bears defnse 30th total and 30th points against...........

Rams defnse 15th total and 13th points against.

Tale of the tape..............Its sad but true...........

Not even close. .....you ca n spin it all you want. throw out all the passing stats you can find....it still won't hide the fact that Josh is a mediocre QB that couldn't beat a good defense.

My perspective in this discussion is a little different, but my opinion is this: JM is an average QB who played within a system that brought out the best in his QB play. Will he do the same in Tampa? I don't know, but based upon Lovie's history it does not bode well for him to duplicate the stats he did in Chicago.

As far as last season's games mentioned, such as St. Louis and Minnesota, it seems ridiculous to blame the Bears' performance on JM. IMO... It was the team that failed in each occasion, from the coaching down to the players.

Besides, this is a dead issue. JM is no longer a Bear.

speaking of backups, they are arguing about the bears should sign Mark Sanchez now. Arguing that Sanchez once dated Kristen and Jay wont want him. I say he wont want him because Jay does not want competition for his job and wont want sanchez.
