I think it's been clearly demonstrated the afc north would beat out every other division. Yea there isn't a super team in the division right now, but lots of complementary pieces that would create a super team. The NFC west has an average offense, the NFC north has an average defense. The afc north has a great offense and a great defense.

It isn't sad -- it is reality. If an elite defense shuts down an elite offense. Explain to me how San Francisco was one of the top defenses in the entire NFL and in two playoffs games -- they gave up 31, 24 and 34 in the playoffs. Next example -- Denver. Ranked #2 in total defense last year. Baltimore puts up 38 on them and they are one and done. Seattle -- the did a good job against Washington, but gave up 30 points to Atlanta and they were done.

So out of the top 4 defenses in the NFL last year -- 3 were in the playoffs, 1 missed the playoffs altogether (pittsburgh), in 6 games -- they gave up 30 or more points 4 times.

You can scream from the rooftops about defense, but the NFL IS A PASSING LEAGUE NOW. Here are the total points scored from the divisional round till the Super Bowl:
58, 76, 69, 73, 52, 41, 65.

PLEASE tell me again how defense is greater than offense in today's game. You want to know what a good defense is greater than???? A mediocre offense or team who doesn't have a good QB.

Figured I would post this again, so the NFCW fans can tell me again how good defense beats a good offense.

The final 7 games of the NFL playoffs last year -- the AVERAGE points scored for the two teams was 62 points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell me again about how defense beats a good offense in today's NFL. LMAO.

I'm starting to think you may have a case of the downs. If you think the
Bears offensive line "got their ass manhandled", how do you explain the WHOPPING
1 sack the Rams had on the Bears 47 pass attempts? Or the fact that Forte
averaged 4.8 yards per carry? Oh, It's because you aren't one of those stat
nerds right? Fucking dumbass

Awwww the flaming boy is crying now. Poor guy has to start the name calling. I would love to see your stat geek ass in the sckreet! LOL Yes the Rams manhandled the best team in the NFC North 42-21. Get over it.

It really is sad the way today's fans see the game. You see how well great
defenses play. Imagine the NFC West all star defensive lineup. There's just no
way you can move the ball on that. No matter how many weapons you throw on the
field. Defense > Offense. Yes, QBs might have the most impact on the game,
but an elite defense can take that impact away.

YEP! Maybe flaming boy can clean his glasses and get his head out of his stat book to someday realize this. "Oh but the Bears and Minnesota are in the top 5 of NFL O-lines!"

LOLOL :L

Pretty sure the NFC champ was from the NFC west too AND Seattle was a crazy flag/FG away from making it an ALL NFC West NFC Championship.

LMAO What did the NFC North do in the playoffs last year?

You fail to grasp the point he is making. Good defenses can be scored upon. Defense is not the end all be all people are making it out to be.

Three out of the top ten in power rankings are from NFCW.

Enough said.

That defense is the best in the league at EVERY position. Have the golf cart ready!

I agree, good defenses can be scored on. Great defenses make you shit your pants and if there are no holes for the RB and the QB has constant pressure, do the math...

But yah you are right... They would have many holes to run through and all kinds of time in the pocket. :L

What conference is dominating the NFL right now and why? The STL Rams have beaten 3 1st place teams this year. And we are in last place. WHY? Cuz the NFC West is a physical conference and defenses rules.

The Falcons got lucky with a flag last year + a FG to beat Seattle in the playoffs or it's an ALL NFC WEST NFC Championship.

In 2012 look at the top 5 defense (fewest points given up).

1) Seahawks
2) San Fran
3) Bears
4) Broncos
5) Falcons

As you can see 4 out 5 made the playoffs and one went to the SuperBowl

In 2012 look at the top 5 offense by points scored

1) Pats
2) Saints
3) Lions
4) Broncos
5) Redskins

As you can see 3 out 5 made the playoffs, no Superbowl team and one of these teams also had a top five defense.

So which group is better?

I didn't read all 25 pages, but it's clearly the AFC West.

Take the bulk of KC's defense then throw in some all pros like Von Miller, Eric Weddle, and others. Mesh the Broncos and Chargers offense. The #2 QB in the entire NFL this season would be 2nd string on this team. Throw in Scifres and Prater, two great kickers that will contantly be on the bench (except for extra points and kickoffs), and you have a super team that would blow out any other super team by 50, at the half. Best part about it: No Raiders on the team.

So you are saying the Seahawks and 49ers defense last year weren't great defenses? Not sure why I am even asking the question, because that is exactly what you are saying, as the 49ers and Seahawks gave up an average of about 30 points a game in the playoffs. Great defenses don't do that.

Are you being dense on purpose? He said even great defenses can have games where they give up points, just like great offenses can have games where they don't put up points.

Your the the one saying great defenses don't do that.

You should change your handle from TrustMe IamRight to I may not be right but I'll argue anyways.

Maybe you should read what he posted before responding -- I'll quote it for you here:

So Mr. Dense -- have you caught up with your reading comprehension skills yet? GOOD DEFENSES can be scored on (that is 1 type of defense). GREAT DEFENSES make you, blah, blah, blah, I hope you can read the quote at least. (that is TWO types of defenses)

Mmmm did you see Eli Manning go to the ground last week with out being touched? That's what he's talking about . You really should learn some manners.

And FYI -- i thought Seattle AND San Francisco had great defenses last year. With the current rules in place -- it doesn't matter how good you are, the rules give offenses a huge advantage.

It is the only reason I have said the NFCN would outscore the NFCW. If you lined up the exact same players for both teams and used the NFL rules from 10-15 years ago -- I'd take the NFCW in a heartbeat. Defensive players can't look at a player the wrong way without getting flagged or fined by the NFL. THAT is why you QBs like Brees, Brady and even Stafford passing for 5000 yards in a season. THAT is why you see players like Calvin Johnson breaking Jerry Rice's single season record for receiving yards and Peyton Manning about to set the record for TD passes in a season.

The days of teams like the Baltimore Ravens, who dominated defensively and used Trent Dilfer at QB and asked him to just not turn the ball over will be few and far between. The NFL is an offensive league now. Having a solid defense is a must, but it most definitely isn't a necessity.

Yeah -- Congrats on beating up on the last ranked offense in the NFL. You can add your name to the list of all the teams that have done the same this year.
