I'm not sure taking picks away is a bad idea. You really want to make coaches and GMs and owners make sure this doesn't happen, start punishing the teams as well as the players. I'd consider fining the team as a whole too.

While we're at it, why not take the team from Ross and have the Annunaki run it from their outer space??? That'll show them goddamn, bullies!

Once again a fucking moron chimes in with a stupid ass answer. Should we not have taken picks from NO or NE either? Should we have just let them slide by. I mean NO was only paying people to make plays. What's so wrong with that?

it's kind of snitching, but at least with him telling the whole team, there is no way for it to get covered up. I have to ask why didn't the other teammates this was happen to not come to Martins aid and why didn't they stand up to RI as a group?

Because they were under the mentality that "he is great if he is on your side..." other teammates were not being bullied so they took the cowards way out and did nothing. Going to teammates with the voicemails is exactly the same as going to the coaches and management. Also, if I ever received a threatening voicemail threatening my life I am certainly not just going to let it go and say oh it's nothing, it's all good... Hell no, i'm going to the police!

With this new development with the HC...different situations but some similarities with the Saints...so there is some precedent set from the commish...Payton got a year and he was a SB winning HC. If this part of the story is true, Philbin will be back as a OC in maybe '16.

As far as picks go...unless this action was known at the GM level, I don't see how the FO should be penalized.

No in both cases. I can't understand how people think any of this shit is isolated, in all matters like these. Football is a hyper competitive and violent sport. These guys don't just turn it on and off like a switch. They want to win at any and ALL costs.

It ceased to be a locker room problem to manage right there.

The locker room bond is not nearly as strong as it might appear to be. When you have some guys making $28k per gm (min salaried guys) lined up next to a player making 10 times that amount...not everybody is going to be on the same page all the time...impossible.

Most all of the stuff Shefter and Mort get for espn comes from the locker room.

People that get bullied usually do not have that coping ability. They get bullied because they take it. And the bully feel superior and keeps doing it because he can get away with it.

If it would be nice if it was just that easy, but again Martin didn't have it in him to do it.

Yeah, funny.

Except:

1) Jack Nicholson's character is supposed to be the bad guy in that movie. He's a power-mad sociopath.

2) Football is entertainment, not warfare. It's a game. Lives aren't on the line.

Except this seems to be the case of any Dolphin who seems to have spoken out. Jack was portrayed as the bad guy in the movie yet he still was the best America can do much like the Dolphins. Rather win with slimeballs than lose with someone you perceive to be weak and can't stand up for himself.

Anyone else find it odd that all anti bullying campaigns are designed to bully the bully instead of actually helping the victim stand up to the bully.

People are just metaphorically punching Incongnito in the face with hateful words, I figured all the internet tough guys would approve.

The more that comes out about this...it's a lot less about bullying in the context that you are portraying...if as reported that there was a top down message to "toughen up" Martin, RI was just the ring leader, among the entire team with the isolation type abuse spoken about, but RI definitely took it to another level.

Bullying is a bad thing and shouldn't be taken lightly...this was not bullying in anyway. This looks now to be a top down orchestrated effort to get team mate to be more of a bad ass, a meaner, tougher player, and RI went too far. and the guy had enough.

I agree, he went way over the line. I'd love to see Martin bring a lawsuit with the Dolphins being held liable if they knew about this and did nothing, this is a workplace, this can't happen.

I don't think you understand how relentless people with antisocial personality disorder (sociopaths, narcissistic personality disorder, etc) can really be. Throw in the fact that RI was a all-pro veteran, who seemed to dominate the locker room (what, is 2nd year Ryan Tannehill going to tell him to shut up?)- Martin and the other rookies were completely marginalized. The fact that he is big and makes money is fairly irrelevant when you have to deal with this sort of issue- which is present at your place of work, all road trips, and permeates into parts of your personal life with those sorts of voice messages and who know what else. From what I've read so far I don't think Martin acted like a victim or baby whatsoever.

I, too, often get sick of many peoples "victim mentality" and people who always seem to paint themselves as victims. However, I must say, I respectfully disagree with almost everything you have written in this thread.

That's fine. And I understand how I can seem insensitive about it. It's just seem that an intelligent young man in 2013, could some how find a diplomatic way to deal with it, over the course of two years? That's all I'm saying...the story is odd. Nothing more.

I still find it funny how you claimed martin should "man up bitch", then I presented a way for him to really "man up" and your tone changed very quickly with 'I wouldnt take it that far".

You went from this
