We all have buttons and obviously Martin's buttons were pushed too far...I think some of us take him leaving the team as a sign of weakness, but I'd rather see him seek counseling than him totally cracking and going postal.

I haven't really said anything about the incident, but just been watching a lot about the guy.

Obviously I don't know the pro-level culture. But you'd think that people know that college is college and business is business. Hazing and crap may fly in college but the NFL or where ever you are working is business and you need a paycheck. Everyone's got bills to pay or mouth's to feed.

I guess many of these guys have been coddled for so long that have no clue on what is acceptable in society.

People that get bullied usually are not mentally strong and confident people! Thats why they get bullied! And it has noting to do with being unstable or having mental issues.

A lot of victims lack confidence to make a stand or file a complaint.

At every level of life people run into bullies. Some are better prepared to deal with them than others! But we all have a responsibility to stand up for people that can't of lack the courage to.

Martin handled this the best way he knew how. it may be different from how I or anyone else would have but he did what he thought was best. And like all of us monday morning QBs hindsight is 20/20. Maybe he would do things differently if he could but it should have never came to this point. RI is a douche bag and every teammate that turned a blind eye or participated has to share the blame.

Anybody listen to some of the Miami players interviewed now that the voice mails and text messages have come out? Very disappointed in the way that they are viewing all of this. Some of them tried to play it off like a joke. Others said they had no clue anything was wrong (two years of spending countless hours with Martin and RI and you didn't see anything?). Some even tried to defend RI at this point and kept saying how good of a guy he is.

Well when they are extorting rookies for trips to vegas etc, not likely many are going to chime in and say a new culture in the locker room is needed.

To me it sounds like quite a few of the veterans were involved in all of this and enjoyed taking advantage of a situation they knew that even if the rookies told them no they could force them by making life a living hell. Martin sounds like he was not the only one afraid of what would happen if he did say no so to say he needs to man up I think is ignoring the environment he was in.

The kids that pulled off the Columbine killings complained off being bullied, made fun off, etc.

We take the victims to be weak minded as you mentioned, but that's not entirely true. You just don't know an individuals cracking point. I think Martin's way of handling this was far more manly if you will...he might've been close to the cracking point and something even more bizarre happening.

Columbine was a perfect storm of bullying and immature fantasy fueled revenge. Couple by parents that were asleep at the switch. But I get your point and agree sometimes the bullied have some mental issues.

In this case we are talking about a really smart dude that lacked the edge to confront the problem. And for every kid that takes their own life due to this issue their are probably hundreds that suffer in silence.

Maybe Martin didn't have the fortitude to be an NFL player but he didn't deserve what RI was dishing out. I truly believe and teach my kids to be the bigger person and stand up for those that can't or won't.

See that's a good reason right there to suspend him and better yet throw him in jail but bullying. Maybe i'm wrong in thinking this way but bullying and extortion are two very different things.
