This Phillies offseason could go a bunch of different ways - I don't know what to expect - that TV deal could change a lot of things if they get it done in the next few weeks like they had said about a week or so ago

They certainly need much more starting pitching - they have nothing after Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels

The bullpen could use a veteran arm or two that can actually pitch, not the guys they've brought to the team in the past

Offense needs a lot too but it might be hard to maneuver some of those guys

Hell, any Outfielders that can just hit RHP? and play Right? Hitting LHP in RF is not needed in KC.
I think Beltran is worth more to an AL team because they can stash him at DH in a year or two so he does seem like a good fit. Plus, it makes the 1-70 series a bit more interesting and I just dont know if the Cardinals are going to give Beltran a good deal

I am pretty sure the new TV deal means atleast ~20m for each team from what I have read. I don't expect FA contracts to rise drastically unless we have someone like... Cano... go into FA. But I suppose that is just me speculating on the immediate effects of the new TV Deal.

Probably right, but the only problem with him going to KC is that we can't hide him at DH because we are already doing that with Billy Butler. And trading Butler doesn't make a whole lot of sense imo.

A new MLB T.V deal will not net a ton of $$. To get that, you have to make and form your own, ala the YES network. That is where the ral money is now, the direct to team T.V $$.

To the Dodgers, it has meant $ 7 BILLION.

No I'm talking about the Phillies TV deal - they're supposed to get one soon as well - so that could be a lot more money plus the 20 million or so for each team

I see 2.

The best fit, IMO, would be Shin-Soo Choo. However, I doubt they will have the $$ to be a player in that race. Other than that, there is Nelson Cruz, with most of the scuttlebutt I am reading has him all but going back to the Rangers.

So,.....?

Maybe so, but I suppose that jumps off the page as a Royals fan.

Here is a link to show what I am talking about if anyone is wondering:

The New TV deals are going to be a windfall of all 30 teams | HardballTalk

I'm impressed. Finding a story from over a year ago takes some doing......

And, that will bode well for all of MLB. It is how you keep the Astros & Marlins of the world to not try to fund their entire payroll with these funds that is the hard part......

The Yankees need help all over the place, not sure really where to start.

Probably at 2B with Cano.

How about getting another G.M drunk, so he would be willing to take on Teixiera and his bloated contract?

I want my Red Sox to KEEP Ellsbury. I

If he goes I hope it will be to a non-NYC team.

The Chicago Cubs, run by former Boston GM Theo Epstein might make a bid for him, and I could live with him going there.

A lot of early rumblings have him likely going west, with Seattle being a talked about as a final destination. No way they will pony up the $$ to get him, but, that is the early word out there.
