I didn't say it was the only reason. I said it picked up steam after. Posey shouldn't have been near the plate if he didn't have the ball.

Cousins did what he thought he had to do, because he assumed Posey had the ball. If you stand that close to the plate and blame the guy that runs you over, then you are not too bright. Posey turned back into him to tag him like he had the ball. Will never feel bad for him.

shouldn't have been NEAR the plate...huh? where was supposed to be?, of course he should be near the plate

He wasn't standing directly on the plate, but he was close enough that you will get run into if a guy thinks you have the ball.

Instead of even attempting to go for the plate, he buried his shoulder and plowed into him in front of the plate, it wasn't malacious, but it was stupid

He acted like he had the ball. It's pretty clear in the video. I am okay with a rule change, but if act like you have a ball do not be surprised if a player buys the decoy and slams into you.

Then you agree, he was not blocking that plate without the ball, he was in front of the plate trying to field it, and how do you know he didn't just drop the ball when he turned to tag Cousins?

I'm sorry, but I think it's silly to blame Posey for that.

He never had the ball in his glove. He totally missed the ball and instead of trying to pick it up he swung towards Cousins to tag him with no ball. That's on you Buster.

The throw was short, Posey is clearly in front of the plate, it looks like he never had control of the ball because he was quickly trying to turn BACK to the plate to tag Cousins.
What I'm saying is a better baserunner, could have easily swiped that plate with a decent slide, we see it all the time.
Would it had mattered if he had the ball cleanly or not, we're talking pretty bang bang here...his instinct is he could have gotten control of the ball, that's what they are supposed to do. Cousins assumed he had no choice but try and knock the ball out, he wasn't even going for the plate

No, that was not on Posey...not even close
It was just unfortunate, EA would have swiped that plate and no one would have been hurt, for example

I can promise you that Posey will never again pretend he has the ball when he doesn't. Why is that? Because it got him killed.

I think he might have thought he had the ball, you really think will the ball bouncing out of his glove that Posey thought "well, I fake everyone out even the ball is bouncing around on the ground"

My point, I don't think it was an "act", I think was bang bang and a better runner slides in, scores easily...no one's hurt

How do you know he didn't think he had the ball? You know how fast that was happening
and I notice how you won't even address the fact the Cousins wasn't even going for the plate.

whatever

I don't like AJ, but this year we saw what someone who is smart can do when fielding throws at the plate. That was the best part of his game last year. He played those perfectly and always found away to not be in harms way while catching and tagging.

It's not on Cousins to protect Posey. That's all on Buster. If I put my self in position to get hammered then I wouldn't blame a no name player for trying to make a splash and stay on his team.

I don't recall a play where a runner instead of trying to hit the plate, just decided to drop his shoulder and plow into AJ instead, while AJ was situated in front of the plate trying to field the ball.

Okay, AJ is the better catcher...I'm done, this is just silly

how about just sliding into the open plate like most runners do?

I think you're being contrary, just to be contrary
Posey is a dumb catcher, I got it.

You are being silly. You are arguing things I never said.

Cousins did want to score, but a better runner scores easily. That's my point...he's not a good baserunner, probably never was, it was unfortunate that he thought that was his only option.

I have nothing against Cousins, for trying to score, but that collision was not Posey's fault
that play happens all the time, you don't see many runners just aiming for the catcher who isn't even blocking the plate
He made a mistake, I felt bad for both of them
