btw, can anyone at all tell me how the h-e-double-hockey-sticks Jonathan Coachman has a job on ESPN(or ANY sports talk radio for that matter)? this clown should've STAYED in the WWE...

Because it's ESPN. That should be enough.

HAHA!

Not that I judge people by their political views because I see flaws in both parties, but I was shocked to see you were a Democrat.
My perception of you was for sure Republican.

In fact most people still feel Lebron hasn't won a legit ring...The first one in 2012 was the asterisk year. A little over half a season...And this year, he did everything to choke away the season in game 6, but was Saved by Ray Allen's fluke shot, after Lebron choked.

Till Lebron wins a ring without Wade, Bosh, and Ray Allen no ONE's Impressed.

Sorry but that's the truth.

So pretty much he has to win a championship just 1 on 5 is what you are saying or with scrubs like he had in Cleveland.

Kobe doesn't have any legit rings bc 3 were with Shaq and the other two he had Gasol, Odom and Fisher.

You sound dumb. No I in Team.

I think you all have missed the entire point - The Lakers aren't goiung to look at Lebron alone and they already know he will most likely spend his entire career in Miami. The Lakers, however are leaving their options open to a new big three team like Miami did with Bosh and Lebron.

The CBA pretty much eliminates the ability of any team to have a big 3. The cap just isn't high enough. You can have a big 2.......but the only way you're getting three is if one or all take significant pay cuts to do it.

Bring that sass and get put on yor ass. That's the motto in our dojo.

I think both Melo and Lebron will agree to sign in Los Angeles, get more shoe money, and bring LA back up to the top, but I think both of them will have a clause in their deal that they are only signing if LA does not bring kobe back.

No, Lebron has to win a ring in a full season, and one where he doesnt choke the season awa only to be bailed out by Ray Allen....

Kobe has 5 legit rings...

LOL...Kobe's first 3 rings were on the back of Shaq! Another was gifted in light of Perkins' injury, he was less than 30% when his teammates bailed him out. He has not won without Gasol or Peace on his last two and never without Phil Jackson. He needs to earn one over the next two seasons before I give him one!

Does he really wanna help out Kobe that bad?? There are better situations out there for him than the Lakers. cmon now

He could probably care less about helping Kobe. He's more interested in playing where he can get the maximum publicity.

He could have helped a team from his native state get into post-season contention, but decided Cleveland wasn't a big enough media market for him.

I HATE the way he treated Cav fans even though I've never lived within 500 miles of Ohio!

Lakers’ source pessimistic about team’s chances with LeBron James
While the Lakers have long been considered the optimal destination for free agents to play, there is a growing pessimism in the team’s front office about their chances of luring stars to Los Angeles next summer.
“Within the organization there isn’t a single person that believes we can bring LeBron aboard,” one source close to Lakers management said.
One reason why the team is increasingly pessimistic about the team’s chances of luring a star is that Kobe Bryant continues to develop a reputation of being a difficult teammate.
“Pau [Gasol] is a two-time champion and a five-time All-Star and he’s one of the most disrespected players ever,” notes one agent. “He gets bad press all the time.”
Another agent said the Bryant’s presence will weigh on the mind of any free agent looking to play for the Lakers ”Uh, duh. Yes,” the agent said matter-of-factly.

This was a hack job of an article by Abbott. Read Mac's comment on this link. He deconstructs the Abbott article.

What affect will Kobe have in landing LeBron James in free agency? | LandOLakers.com | Web Site of Andy and Brian Kamenetzky | The Los Angeles Lakers, NBA, and Anything Else That Comes to Mind

Regarding your bolded points. Everyone knows the Lakers chances of getting Lebron is minimal. No one needs a "source" to understand this. There are only two major star players next summer. I don't think either go anywhere. That doesn't mean the Lakers aren't still an attractive destination.

I'm not sure why he chose to mention Pau Gasol. Pau loves being in Los Angeles and has never wanted to be traded even with all the yearly trade rumors. Heck, he was traded once and was happy that the trade was nixed. Why would he stay if he hated Kobe? Steve Nash wanted to play here.

Abbott then goes on to mention Ramon Sessions completely getting the timeline wrong and coming to an incorrect conclusion. He declined the $4.6 million option on his contract to make more in free agency. He signed in Charlotte for 2 years/$10 million. Things didn't work out for him like he hoped. The Lakers never offered him a contract during the summer. They traded for Nash.

Its a pipe dream. No way any superstars go to LA until Kobe is gone or Kobe begs another player to come and lets him be the man. Kobe throws his teammates under the bus way too much and his fans do the same.

It's a pipe dream for Lebron and Carmelo. They aren't going anywhere and that has nothing to do with Kobe. Just because Howard chose Houston doesn't mean no one else will ever come to Los Angeles.

Who was the last star FA that had the Lakers picked as their #1 destination since Kobe became the man? There are no coincidences. :laugh3:
