ESPN Shutting Down Team Forums

I think we have been through this with several mass migrations from other dead boards. A lot of people on ESPN, CBS, etc troll and stir up the pot because they can. It is easy to fall into bad habits and be an ass with all of the other people around you doing it too.

Most people will chill out and turn a new leaf here because they have no other choice. They can't get away with it and that is enough to keep most people in line.

You have to give everyone the chance to prove they are worthy of ignoring the past until they give reason not to.

Thanks Wizard. I was labeled a troll on the ESPN boards because I didnt agree with everybody all the time and i'm not a Pete Carroll fan nor will I ever be. If you caused a little bit of conflict due to your opinion or didnt suck up over there, you get the Troll title.I lost a bet with Harold and left the boards (still in shock that Carroll won that many games last season) so he's a little excited or tense that i'm here now. Its a new season and i'm stoked.

Look, this is a different board with different rules and all should be allowed to prove they belong. I don't know any of you so I have no dog in this fight.

As for not liking Carroll or anyone else on the team, no one will be upset at you for sharing an unpopular view as long as it is done without malice. Share your views and put up whatever stats or articles you want to support it, just be respectful to those who disagree. Debates are healthy and should be welcomed. It is the name calling and condescending banter over them that isn't welcomed.

We all have a love of the Seahawks in common. Let that unite us even when we disagree. Just remember we are all on the same side.

I agree although I do believe that the Princess and Stupor on the ESPN boards deserved being treated like the trolls they are since there were no moderators to control them.

I understand the feelings. Still, as long as those lines aren't crossed here there is no reason to pre-ban someone based on past issues. Harold is a mod here and is fast on dealing with trolls and people who are out of line. If any of the new posters crosses those lines they may only get that chance once.

Lol, good lord. I'm not a racist and the Seahawks board wasnt the only board on ESPN. I never once posted there after I lost the bet, but enough about me. Like I said, lets get the season started already.

So telling someone they are viewing things through blinders by their homerism is being mean to you?

Look, I'm going to give you some slack as you are not yet ramped down from the type of posting on ESPN, but not everyone here is out to get you or looking to sneak in insults. This is now the third thread you are following me on and trying to goad me into a fight and it simply isn't going to work. That's not how we do things here.

You are totally ignoring the parts where I'm telling the Seahawk fans to get over the problems they had on the other site as well. If I'm telling everyone from ESPN to sit down and chill out and let the process work exactly how am I picking on SF or it's fans? Exactly how am I not being consistent and expecting the same thing from other sides?

I'm sure you will be given some latitude and rightfully so, but I'd suggest you learn to drop that defensive and condescending tone and just concentrate on the football issues and get used to posting your views without making everything so personal. In time you may learn to enjoy some of the back and forth even with Seahawk fans.
