So....Jon Miller mentioned that this is the first game since the first day the park opened that someone has hit three homeruns in one game at AT&T.

+1

I was at a sports bar for the first 6 innings. I saw a 20-something woman wearing a Zito t-shirt. A year ago I would have laughed at her. Tonight I thought, "Man, that girl is the shit." :D

They mentioned Elster on the national broadcast as well.

Yup.

I mentioned before the game that this was a near must-win for the Tiglets. This was a dagger in their hearts.

Still early, and there is a LOT of baseball still to play, though. Don't let up, guys.

Ah.....didn't see that. I've been sticking to my ritual of the last three games. Watch the first inning, then take the dogs on a run with a steep hill climb. Each time I've gotten back in the car, the Giants have blown open the game. My legs can't take much more.

I stayed off the board the whole game, and actually only started listening on the radio (I was driving) right after Panda made it 4-0.

That's four in a row the Giants have won without me being on the board.

Excerpts from Dave Schoenfeld: ESPN

The Giants beat Justin Verlander and the Tigers 8-3 but the score was secondary to one of the great individual performances in World Series history...

Home run No. 1: An 0-2 95-mph fastball that Verlander tried to elevate but Sandoval jacked to dead center, a 421-foot rocket of a line drive with two out in the first. It wasn’t necessarily a bad pitch -- eye level -- but Sandoval has the hand-eye coordination to extend the strike zone like few batters.

How unlikely was the home run? Not surprisingly, Verlander hadn’t served up an 0-2 home run all season ... and only four in his career.

Home run No. 2: ...Verlander threw Sandoval two changeups in the dirt, prompting a quick visit from pitching coach Jeff Jones. The next pitch was a 95-mph fastball on the outside corner that Sandoval drove to left field, just clearing the fence for a two-run homer. Again, not a terrible pitch, just a terrific swing. Of Sandoval’s 12 regular-season home runs, just two went to left field or left-center, but he hit nine in that direction in 2011, so he has legit opposite-field power.

Home run No. 3: Now facing reliever Al Alburquerque in the fifth, Sandoval golfed a 1-1 slider that was barely off the ground into a long, beautiful arc over the center-field fence...

The amazing thing: None of the three pitches was grooved. Two were outside the strike zone. It was simply three swings for the ages for Kung Fu Panda.

Yup! And you know what? Not only is he not even on my shit list, between this season and STL Game 5 and tonight... The hits too! I mean I've never been so excited for a grounder in the hole... He is one of my favorite Giants. Geezus!

One thing I've noticed in those fox super-slo-mo shots of ball hitting bat, is how much the bats recoil and how that recoil travels into the hands of the hitters. But in the slo-mo shots of Panda's homeruns tonight, the bat was rock solid, and Panda's hands were locked onto the handle.

I guess that's the difference you hear with guys who can nut the ball.
