They mentioned Elster on the national broadcast as well.

Just back from the park - great game!

I don't know if it was mentioned on air, or in one of the earlier 16 pages on the thread,

Edit: yes, it was mentioned, sorry for the repeat

One thing I've noticed in those fox super-slo-mo shots of ball hitting bat, is how much the bats recoil and how that recoil travels into the hands of the hitters. But in the slo-mo shots of Panda's homeruns tonight, the bats were rock solid, and Panda's hands were locked onto the handle.

I guess that's the difference you hear with guys who can nut the ball.

I think that's the difference between hitting the sweet spot and hitting it either on the hands or off the end... Always felt smoother to hit the sweet spot to me, I think that's because it actually was smoother.

Huffer finally backing me up:

Speaking of Panda:
“He’s just so talented,” Huff said. “He can be the kind of guy who hits 40 homers a year once he gets healthy. He’s a tough guy to pitch to when he’s hot.”

Mitch Albom, Detroit Free Press:

Justin Verlander, on an 0-2 count to Pablo Sandoval, had just brought a pitch that would skin the hair off an alley cat, a fastball high and in, 95 m.p.h. The slugger who has become an RBI machine in San Francisco’s postseason — and whose bat was kissed by the gods tonight — got wood on that pitch and turned it around in a hurry. It landed in the seats. And the Giants — like that scene in “The Untouchables” when the bad guys kill their first G-man and leave him in an elevator — hung a warning sign on the Tigers in the very first inning of this 2012 World Series:

"Touchable.”

I have to say, tonight's (well, I guess LAST night's now) crowd was the quietest post-season game I've been to. 2000 NLDS, 2002 NLCS and WS, 2010 NLCS, and now 2012 WS. It was loud and energetic the first 3 innings, but then it sort of quieted down, except for specific moments (such as any time Pablo homered ;) ). The other games it was loud and very energetic the entire game. This time, the crowd was almost subdued during most of innings 5-8. Strange.

Hadn't seen this posted yet, so I thought I'd drop this in (courtesy of NaslundFan19 from the hockey board), apologies if it has:

LOL Helping out any way he can. I guess it worked. :cool2:

When this happened, I mentioned in the GDT that he would be annoying as hell to be in the dugout with, but they seem to like his antics, so carry on Weez.

Btw, he has been with the team for a good portion of the season. He even filled in on broadcasts for a Couple innings during the season.

Wha? Huh?

I think it was Cam who was going crazy for a 30-HR guy...

Well, you know "Cal" and "Cam" are spelled pretty much alike, and, well, I was a little bleary-eyed after celebrating the win last night with milk and cookies. Sorry to mix up the OP for 30-HR power.

Sure do miss this board at game time, though.

Those 0-2 not-high-enough fastballs are killers for other teams too:

Baggs:

Tell me if you saw this coming in spring training: Lincecum rushing out of the bullpen, his long hair bouncing with each stride, to take over for Barry Zito in Game 1 of the World Series.
