Maybe some of you should look at OU's preseason rankings for the last decade and what they actually ended up as

Last decade.....02-11

Rose bowl win
Fiesta bowl win
3 bcs title games
6 big twelve titles
108-27 record

Yeah, clearly OU has underachieved.

The reason these teams were selected is because of their; either rich tradition of college football (ND) LOCATION, resources, money revenue, etc. That is why teams like Virginia as Doom is upset about did not make the cut.

Georgia - plays in the SEC, is one of the top money making schools in the country, year after year they produce a good recruiting class and obtain hefty expectations from the media. Is located in Georgia, just north of Florida which is a hotbed for top athletes in the country.

Texas - It speaks for itself, they are Texas. They own the state of Texas. They have the best recruits in the country right in their backyard. They have their own network, they are the school with the most money given to them in a single year, they are also one of the top 3? or top 5 winningest programs of all time in college football.

UCLA - Southern California, if USC can do it and did it, why the hell can't UCLA? They also play in what can be sold as a better more historic stadium in the Rose Bowl. Neweasel era aside, they should at the very least get USC left over players and some years those players could be extremely good.

Arkansas - Plays in the SEC, right next to Texas which again, as stated above, is one of the top 3 states in recruiting. Razorbacks have literally done nothing in the SEC.

Notre Dame - Location isn't big here, but who needs location when you sell someone that you are THE staple of college football, or so we hear from stories from our elders. You would just think with the tradition and history at Notre Dame, the constant love from the media and their yearly top recruiting classes that we hear of they would be competing for something more each year. Also ad the flexibility of their schedule, their TV contract and their extremely generous BCS contract and ND should be better then they have been the last 2 decades.

The best football player to come out of Notre Dame recently is a starting pitcher for the Cubs. LOL

Kyle Rudolph is a stud actually, 2010 draft. Justin tuck also just won his second super bowl. Can't wait to see how Floyd does. All our 5 star talent go in the first two rounds, ND certainly doesn't hinder them. Wouldn't you rather be picked too high than too low? All our 5 star talent makes it to the NFL.

UCLA has had some very bad coaches & recruiters in recent years. With USC on probation this was the Bruins chance. Unfortunately for them they blew it.

Again OD it's easier to make it to a BCS bowl if you're in a conference, much easier. ND has never had more than 2 losses when appearing in their 3 BCS bowls. Conference teams have had as many as 4!

Floyd isn't going to do much. It's not his fault though. The Cardinals don't have a QB.

can we get a clarification on your contract with the BCS? Because I thought it was if ND either less than 2 losses or were ranked in the top 12 they got an automatic bid.

With their pre-season hype, and the fact that ND can start a season 0-2 and still be ranked in the top 20, along with their schedule, they should be going to more BCS bowls.

But maybe I am wrong on your BCS contract?

yes yes and yes. But at some years like Bush at USC when USC had dominating recruiting classes it could have taken the Trojans left over players and still been competitive in their record. But UCLA has been a doormat for years. You can basically sell the same thing as USC can.

They have to finish top 8 in the final BCS standing, they can lose every game otherwise.

lol @ 8 people voting for Texas

Texas was my second choice. All we hear from the media is Mack Brown picks & chooses who he wants out of the state of Texas. Why can't he recruit a QB?

Drew Brees went to Purdue
Stafford went to Georgia
Luck went to Stanford
Aaron Murray is at Georgia

I'm sure their are many more.

For a guy who can apparently get anyone he wants from the state he certainly has blown it when it comes to getting the best QB.

Well I know nothing about the cardinals and am mad I missed their first preseason game, but I hope that's not the case!

BTW, I didn't even vote for ND and it looks like majority of people here are feeling that ND is the most underachieving program in cfb.

Boise St has done a better job recruiting in So Cal than UCLA has iin recent years.

of all these teams UCLA

they should be a lot better than they are

by a good margin

Texas won a championship and went to another not too long ago, you seem to forget anything beyond 2 years

Notre Dame has won many championships, even though they aren't as good now they have overachieved as a program.

Arkansas is a good candidate at the same time the state of Arkansas really isn't that big of a market.

Georgia does only have one championship they have somewhat underachieved but at least they make bcs bowls quite often.

for unlisted underachievers

lets look at Rutgers

sure they are in New Jersey but they are the closest to New York City which means closest to that top market. Yet they have pretty much nothing to show for it, definition of underachieving.

now if you want to go for underachievers lately

Miami has underachieved quite a bit, with the great history they have plus being in Miami.

For all the media coverage they get here's where Notre Dame comes into play.

Florida State not as much because they aren't in as big of a market but with their history they too underachieve.

and by the way if this hasn't been pointed out yet

OregonDucks once again has no understanding of the english language, although this sounds very hypocritical because I have used hardly any punctuation in this post and have probably managed to spell at least one word wrong, but OregonDucks appears to forget that "i" comes before "e" except after "c"

I go by talent. Texas has a huge talent pool to choose from. They now have their own network. Mack Brown needs to get the job done.

Notre Dame is a national program unto itself. They're the only football program with it's own National Television network. They should be winning more games, period.
