Already answered above, are you sure 2nd and 3rd are 'unsurprising'?
I dunno. What do you think? The guys were speedsters and base stealers. Shouldn't be unexpected to see them hit gappers that normal hitters would call doubles that their extra speed turned into triples. But, this isn't the politics board, it's the baseball board. I'll listen to opinions because I'm more open to ideas here.

Why post on the PF if you're not open to ideas?

I guess you're right about 2 and 3, I just figured Mays would be one of them (he's close, 1 shy of 3rd place)

Was surprised that Rickey is nowhere near the leaders on this list

Willie hit 82 triples in his first seven seasons after returning from military service and had 91 for his career at that point. He was still only 29 years old. So, it was a pretty solid guess. He had 113 by age 33. Age caught up with him. 30+ year old players don't rack up too many triples. But the guy this post is about is the exception. Somehow, he racked up 84 triples after the age of 30. Kinda crazy.

I want to say Ichiro but he quite obviously was a Mariner

That was my guess before his hint...Ichiro is also not very high on the list

Ichiro is the Mariners all time triples leader though with 79, and his 3000th hit was a triple

He hit very few triples, surprisingly. Of course in his heyday a walk was as good as a triple
Only as good if the bases were empty but I get it

I know Willie Wilson led the AL in many seasons in triples.
I'm thinking maybe George Brett. He didn't have the speed that Wilson had but he played in that same stadium for a long time.
