Agree, but this poll is a comparison of all of today's teams against each other. So it's apples to apples. We have pretty new facilities and more money than anyone. You would think we would be at the very top of the list. IMO it's telling that we aren't. I also keep thinking about Dalton Schultz's comments and how when our guys are working out it isn't serious or focused and how amazed he was when he went to Houston about how it was all business. Most of that was the tours and the such and some of that was the atmosphere which is set by the staff.
Im not saying you're wrong, im not in the building. Browns has a reputation as being a SOB that will push you as far as you can go, and is not above calling a guy a wus if he doesn't bring it. I. Sure there are many who dont like the guy. Dak and Overshown swear by him, Diggs hates his guts

Back to the positive.

Donovan Ezeiruaku ranked 16th on PFF’s big board, brings both pedigree and production to the edge opposite Micah Parsons. He was the only edge defender in the FBS to post a run-defense grade of 80.0 or higher in each of the past three seasons.

Looks like a total steal in the 2nd round. I bet they have a hard time keeping him on the bench early on. They likely bring him along slowly because he is a rookie. But from what I have seen he looks ready to produce right away. He does not resemble a project to me. I hope they rotate him in early and often.

I agree.
so many seem to have an expected ability to get to the QB.

Another position group on this team that is looking pretty darn good compared to last season.

Overshown is way ahead of schedule, says he is on track for possibly playing by Thanksgiving. Love that kid
Hmmmm. Based on how these things sometimes go, that's not really good news. "Possibly playing" by week 12? I was thinking he'd definitely be back at some point this year and "possibly" in October. Now I'm wondering if he won't be back at all this year. Kid's a star and one of the keys to us getting to where we need to be. I guess the most important thing is he is 100% at some point. If not this year, then next

He tore his ACL, MCL and PCL and was originally thought to be out thr entire season. Where did you ever see October?

He looks like he is going to be a play maker and disruptive. Really makes you wish we had all 3 of him, Micah and Overshown for the whole year IF he works out. I don't suspect he will "start" here at all unless we change the defense or move Micah to LBer on early downs because it's tough to have both him and Micah at DE on every run down weighing around 245lbs each and Kneeland is just much bigger and stopping the run is his strong suit. But in today's NFL the old rules of "starting" are meaningless when teams are in the nickel well over 50% of the time - three corners start, three WRs start, etc. EZ is going to play the second most snaps to Micah at Edge (maybe 3rd?) by year end I hope and is going to play a huge role. I suspect he also allows us to get Micah off the field more on early downs also.

Rotation, rotation, rotation should be the name of the game and these guys will all play a lot. We are going to send these guys in waves this year. I also suspect we see a lot of Micah lined up all over the LOS on pure pass rush situations with EZ, Sam Williams and Fowler all getting a lot of snaps. I wonder if anyone would give us a DT for Fowler

Seeing a lot of talk about him and his work out videos. You just said this yesterday
We go into the season with a fresh start coaching staff that brings great energy and a solid offseason. We are a legit WC contender IMO.
If Diggs, Revel and Overshown are all starting by week 7-8 and we are relatively injury free we might have a really special season

I think Revel and Diggs will be. Sorry I didn't specify the exact week on O. If its week 9 that's Nov 3.
Personally my guess (and it is 100% a guess of course because I have no clue) is that Revel is going to be in the lineup week 1 and will even be fine for the preseason. He may be held out of preseason games as a precaution, but I think he is going to be fine by then. Diggs no and Overshown no, but I'm not expecting Revel to miss any time

That alone would be big. I think Revel is eventually going to be the best corner on the team. He was the HR of the draft, getting him in the 3rd was the best value pick we have made in years. So much better than reaching for Schoony in the 2nd or taking someone with a chronic injury

Revel could easily become a lock down corner. He has the size and speed. Very fluid player. I thought the Cowboys were going to take him in round two. To get him in round 3 is robbery

The mocks that I think are consistently good all had him late 1st to early 2nd, but like Josh Simmons, if there was no injury issues, then top 10-15. A nice draft and a GREAT trade help the outlook considerably. Whatever happens this season, I think they finally nailed the HC as well. That will lead to more long term success than any other move

I don't know about 10-15 but I posted somewhere on here an article about him that talked about how SEC teams were all trying to pay him to come after his first year at East Carolina but he decided to stay at East Carolina because they gave him his chance. Just a lot to like there with this kid. The thing with his injury I think is that it isn't the fact that he is currently injured that caused him to drop as much as the fact that because of his injury he is a small school kid who only played like 8 division 1 games. Not a lot of tape and what there is of him isn't against top competition. If he didn't get hurt and repeated what he did the year before for another season and then got hurt the next year (a third season) he'd still be a first rounder I think. Meaning I think he needed to prove it for one more year. Now it comes down to him recovering fully and showing he can handle the big jump from small school to the NFL. He's big, fluid, fast and like Bland he helps in run support. I think he fits Eberflus' HITS principle and also his "everyone on the field has to tackle" principle - I'm looking at you Diggs. It will be interesting to see what they do next year if he proves to be as good as everyone hopes and Diggs is back to 100% and Bland has another good year. For now, he's just another rookie that may or may not be good. We have all had a long list of guys we knew would be stars that weren't and another long list that worked out great. Fingers crossed :hope:

I heard guys say if he were healthy he was the best corner and top 15. He was considered the total package, coverage, ball skills and hitter. If he isn't a stud, I won't rip any Cowboys pick again because I dont know shit if he isn't

Yeah, we are all kind of guessing a little (a lot in my case!) I think. The Michigan corner was a top 5 pick 13 months ago and ended up in the second round. Burden was a top 10 pick and the top WR 13 months ago and also ended up in the second round. Even the scouts change their minds over time I guess. All I care about is how he does going forward. I don't care if he was a first rounder or 3rd rounder or a guy who has been a huge bust so far like Mazi. I root for them all to break out and cheer like hell when they do. Actually I probably cheer a little more when the unexpected ones do. Something fun about a guy like Bland coming out of nowhere or if Guyton or Mazi proves their worth after starting off so badly

My hope is the new staff let Mazi and Guyton start off as starters....but damn well have to earn them to keep it by game 1

I know you mean in camp and not the regular season, but I’d clarify it (and I think this is what you mean also) with what I think/hope will happen is:

1) the new staff isn’t just blowing smoke up our butts like they were with the character thing and will make them earn their starting jobs through competition

2) they will in fact both earn starting or be replaced. But mostly they prove our scouts right and earn starting spots!
