A better player? Just stop that. LeBron averages more points, rebounds, assist, steals, blocks, has a better FG% and a better 3-point %. And though 20 seasons, same number Kobe played, LeBron has more all star selections and more 1st team selections.

Going by the head to head numbers how is Kobe the better player?

Chamberlain was never the GOAT of the Lakers, doesn't change his overall ranking.

Kobe isn't the GOAT of the Lakers either. I'd have him no higher than fighting for 3rd behind Magic and KAJ.

Magic was a liability on defense and Kareem wasn't the Lakers's best player for most of his Championships with the team. Hell they won their last title in spite of him.

But Kobe wasn't better. You are allowed to have any opinion you want but we are allowed to push back on them, especially obviously wrong ones. That's sort of the point of this place.

And before you say 'it's an opinion so it can't be wrong' that's silly. I could have the opinion that Brock Purdy is the best QB in the league. That would be wrong if I did (I do not). There is no reasonable way to put Kobe and what he did above LeBron and what he did and is still doing. Kobe is an all time great, top 15 player all time and defensibly top 10. He ain't top 3 like LeBron.

Thinking rings is an end all, be all conversation is a poor mans' view on greatness.

The Cavs handed him a less than stellar roster for years. Go look at the roster he carried to the Finals on his first stint (nobody is doing that except Lebron) with that roster.
Nobody is winning a title with that roster so he signed with Miami. Never demanded a trade like Kobe TRIED to do for years.
Remember when he went to LA they had a team full of young players and they were rebuilding. He didn't join a stacked roster LOL

Kobe is without a doubt the better Laker but that goes without saying. Just like it goes without saying Lebron is the better player. It's not close. Lebron is in the GOAT conversation and will be at the top of that convo when it's all said and done. Kobe never was in the conversation.

Its my opinion that Kobe was the better player. So I don't have to square that with you or anyone. Kobe didn't hop from one winning team to another. He made the Lakers champions with mediocre players around him. James could never do that. He had to have NBA stars to play with. And charging is not a good play. It use to be a foul.
