I live in a very nice leafy town, but the whole reason I moved there is to take the train to the city, and NJ transit sucks ass. The trains don't run on time like half the time, so I kind of regret it. I should have moved to NY state. Philly is too long for me to commute into Manhattan. I did it for one month while buying a house and it was brutal.
