Ryans would be my pick as I feel Houston has been more impressive than the Steelers given where the expectations people had going into the season and how they are playing now. Once they got over that 0-2 start they've 6-3 and even those 3 losses were a different of 3 points or less.

Never understood the hype around Tomlin. Don't get me wrong he's a good coach but I never really considered him an elite coach like a lot of people do. Hasn't won an SB since 2008 and the last SB appearance was 2010. Since 2010 the Steelers have been to the AFC championship game one time with arguably SB caliber rosters in that span. Feels like his career is getting outcoached by Belichick and losing playoff games they had no business losing.

Again not saying he's a bad coach as his record speaks for itself but just feels like he's in that awkward range of not good enough to get over the hump but good enough to not get fired and give fans hope almost every year that they are close and they'll get over the hump next season.
My thoughts as well. Very much like Pete Carroll in that regard. Seemingly able to get average teams to the play-offs but out-coached when it matters.

He has been handicapping the team for years with shit offensive coordinators and refusing to make appropriate changes. It took the entire nation chanting Fire Canada to get anything done.

Coach of the year? Hell no.
We were just talkin about "eating out of the palm of hands" and sech.

Well we know who won't be coach of the year.

I don't know. He's making a boatload to sit home now. Panthers' owner is a piece of work.

He's making a good case for it
He has my vote....not that I have one. He is also the most quotable head coach my favorite being "We need volunteers, not hostages"

My vote for COTY would go to Ryans hands down if the Texans make the playoffs or maybe to Campbell in Detroit. Hell, Stefanski in Cleveland, Steichen in Indy, and Reid in KC should be getting some love as well for this season's award.

that's precisely why he always gets the benefit of the doubt from so many people. he can stand up at a podium and offer all sorts of quips, riddles and wonderful phrases, and people eat it up with a spoon. he's just an average coach at best, who had the benefit of having a 1st ballot HOF'er as his QB for the majority of his tenure

After this week I think Ryans is the obvious choice to this date and I'll give Tomlin the benefit of the doubt losing Pickett but you still lost to a 2 win Cardinals team.

But I think almost everyone would call you crazy if you said the Texans a mess of an organization with a rookie QB and rookie HC would be 7-5 at this point.

I agree on Ryans but as for the Steelers losing to the Cardinals, I'm not so sure their as awful as we may think they are. They play tough ball and were somewhat competitive in a lot of their losses without Murray.
