2 PP goals in 4 games. He had 3 in 61 games for the sharks... just goes to show what happens when you are given a chance...

Yeah, I still don't care. McGinn could finish the season with 40 goals and I still wouldn't care. /shrug

Ginner's was the GWG, his second in 4 games.

A goal scored to go up 2-0 midway through the second that bested the lone goal scored by the opposition 1/4 way into the third to making it 5-1. :clap2:

You really do assign value to some interesting stuff, man, but I guess it helps your whole "Ginner gon be good" thing you've got going.

all i meant was the it's not like ginner's goal was useless. it made it 2-0 not 7-1. back to back GWG and PP goals is pretty good. It's 4 games, so obviously it doesnt mean much, but I am not in the least bit surprised since this is the first time in his career that he is being given real linemates and quality ice time.

I'm with you on this Rules. I'm not going to beat a dead horse and say "SEE WE SHOULD HAVE NEVER TRADED MCGINN!" but I wasn't all that thrilled to see him shipped out so early in his career. I feel like I reserve the right to be disappointed that McGinn is gone, I wasn't one of the guys who bashed him while he was here and now crying over his absence. I wasn't the president of the Jaimie McGinn fan club either, I just think it was too early to let him go.

Btw, TJ galiardi is not impressing right now...

If TJ were getting the same chance as Ginner right now, this point would hold more water.

That said, it's pretty frustrating that the Sharks trade for somebody only to bury him. What's the point of the trade if TJ is just going to be put with hacks and play crappy minutes.

I largely agree that it would be nice to give him a real shot, but I think the problem is that he has shown nothing. He played 12 mins and was a total nonfactor tonight. I would love to see mitchell on the 4th line playing 5 mins along with desi/winchester and co. however, handzus sucks too and mcginn still put home as many goals as clowe playing with zues and mitchell. now that Mcginn is gone, zues and mitchell look that much worse.

I would like to see wingels demoted in favor of galiardi to play with cooch and clowe. Wingels works hard, but he is basically a slightly more physical version of torrey mitchell, so I would rather see galiardi with those two more skilled players.

Also, dont forget that galiardi has been basically nothing for colorado all year with minimal points and significant minus after sucking last year and having a serious injury. That's part of what makes his acquisition so maddening given the heavy price that DW paid. Makes zero sense whatsoever, and it's coming back to bite big time.

lastly, ginner has earned his time in Col. They started him off playing just 12:30 in his first two games. then he got a bit more time in game 3 after his early two goals and then over 15 mins in this game. I wouldnt be surprised to see him start getting 16-18 mins as colorado realizes the free gift they got and he continues to perform.

LOL rules, what is your obsession with comparing everyone to Torrey Mitchell? Just stop already with comparing these guys to Torrey Mitchell, they are NOT Torrey Mitchell, no matter how badly you want them to be. It was total bull shit that our two assistant coaches didn't give Gali a minute of ice time in the second or third period the other night. We trade for this guy and then punish him, what a joke.

Ok, then let me rephrase: wingels is a hard working player who fights on the forecheck but at the end of the day produces very little. He may develop further, but I dont see it. He also has a similar stature and actually a similar background as a pretty good, but nowhere near dominant college player. I only compare him to mitchell because he plays basically the exact same game (with a bit more edge).

I would love to see what TJ can do and I agree that's its wierd to trade for the guy and give up a strong prospect and one of your top scorers only to stick him in no mans land. It seems that DW and TM are not on the same page, which is really really bad on Dougie's part since all moves he makes should be run by the coach to see if it fits.

I have a feeling that the signficant failures to score may prompt some line shake ups that could see TJ on a top line soon enough. it wouldnt hurt to see him do something good with his 12 minutes though to at least give an inkling to show that he might deserve an upgrade.

Bullshit. No one said, suggested, insinuated or implied that it was useless and you're the only one claiming his goal was any more or less useful than the other goals scored in the game. But I get it. It helps you say "I told you so."

It's real simple: That goal was either more important to the victory because Minnesota scored 5 goals later, or it wasn't.

sjrules, don't feel like you have to defend your stance on McGinn so much. Most here (i think) believe he's a legit NHLer. If given more icetime, there's no doubt he would produce more. I'm glad he's found quick success with the Avs, he deserves it. And if you are right that he becomes a productive top 6er, well then pat yourself on the back.

The Avs are a young team with little expectations and that should help a young guy like McGinn who needs a longer leash in terms of making mistakes. I think playing with faster, more skilled linemates will no doubt be a better fit for him as opposed to the skilless Mitchell and the slug Handzus. I stand by my assessment that he isn't heady enough to be a top 6er on a contending team, but wouldn't mind being wrong.

bullshit artist or not, when you have 6 piles of poop on the bottom 2 lines, why trade away the only pile that doesnt smell & your top prospect in return for 2 more piles to stinky poo? It was a trade that didnt make sence, that was an overpayment & I think it was just done to "make a deadline deal"
If it was just McGinn for the 2 piles, then I woulda been ok with it. Same with Moore, if it was a 4th rounder for him ok, but it was a good position 2nd rounder. DWil is blind if he doesnt see a rebuilding phase is about to happen, and you dont start off rebuilding by trading away top prospects & 1st/2nd round picks unless your getting something useful out of them...

And rules, I cant say I agree or disagree with your assessment of McGinn, you obviously watch him much closer then I do, but I will say this and I think we can both agree on it, McGinn is better off out of SJ. If he does have the talent you suggest, it wouldve gotten wasted in SJ. The team cannot bring out the protential of its players. Michelek is another example, if he was still in SJ, he would not be having the season he is having. I fear that Logan "the future" Couture, will soon fall victum to that black hole in this organization.

I know the Sharks don't have a 3rd and I think they don't have a 4th either in this years draft. They did have two 2nd rounders though, their own and a comp pick for not signing Patrick White both of which will be late 2nds, that was probably a big reason for giving up a 2nd for him.

EDIT: That may have been the Wild's 2nd and not their own which will end up being top half of the 2nd round.
