Everyone says Purdy now.....but when Lance is back in camp, he will be given the shot to earn the job. They've invested too much really in him.

The 49ers FO will do their due diligence. But anything short of a team wowing them with an offer for Lance and Brady coming in and taking way less than market value, they will be "boring" and just go into next season with 2 potential young studs fighting it out for the starting gig. Poor 49er's.
Even without Purdy's injury, i could've seen the Niners giving Lance a chance to unseat him in a QB competition. What Lance needs most is reps and this Purdy injury will give him that.

I mean last season the FO was happy to go into the season with Lance as the starter and Purdy as his backup. They could be just as comfortable with the same combination this season, no matter which one starts.

You're right.
You guys can't take what you dish out here.
Your delusions of importance are very entertaining. I'm glad that you have such a solid self-image of yourself. At the same time, you often project this belief that you actually matter to many. This is common in many Boomers because society and culture have long signaled to America's worst generation that they have an inordinate level of importance. Personally, I feel like this is what gives them the balls to think they have the right to borrow against social security for decades putting the very existence of that system we all pay into in doubt. But who really cares if it goes bankrupt as long as America's worst generation gets its money.

It would not have been unreasonable for the Niners to decide that Purdy is the starter and that Lance is the backup to open up the 2023 season. They would also sign a QB for the practice squad. Purdy would compete with Lance in the preseason, but assuming that he continues to run the offense well, it's not crazy for the Niners to decide that they aren't going to fix something that isn't broken.

Again, these are all possibilities and going in a different direction can also be reasonable. You might not believe this to be true, but opposing viewpoints can both be reasonable. Somehow you got hung up on a statement about Purdy possibly being the Niners starter moving forward and you then twisted it into a statement of certainty that Purdy is a great QB (which I never said). I had only said that it was tragic personally for Purdy that he got injured. If I had already believed that he was a great QB, then I would've said that this was also tragic for the entire Niners organization and its fans.
The bolded is an interesting position. Do you Niners fans not see that the QB position is the only position holding back your current roster? Isn't broken is questionable. I mean if being almost good enough is the goal the Niners do that better than most. They just aren't built to close the deal.

This 100%. Unless the Niner FO decided they wanted a vet like Brady, Purdy would've either been named the starter outright or, at worst, he'd have entered the offseason competing with Lance for the starting QB job. Considering his level of play during the season, it's perfectly reasonable to see Purdy winning that competition and entering the season as the starter. I don't understand why that is so hard for some people to accept.

I guess some people think that the Niners are supposed to focus on where Purdy was selected in the draft and that they should completely ignore everything that happened after that.

where are you watching the Super Bowl?

I think I am going to go out in Philly.
I can't watch big games out with people. I don't want somebody in my ear talking nonsense and asking dumb questions while I'm watching the game. Some people feel like they need to talk for the sake of talking. Frustrates me to no end.

Exactly, you and your fanbase are a bunch of assholes that hate the fact that they had a game gifted to them and not a real game with its players on the field.

lol

like I have said a couple times now...don't try to block a man with 16 sacks on the season with your TE and your QB(s) would still be able to play to their full capacity.

nothing was gifted...we took the W

Dude you act like one fucking play made that entire game from your standpoint. Yeah he got lined up against a stud and made a play, it happens often but that one play wasn’t determining how that game was gonna go if Purdy didn’t get hurt

Only one team can emerge as the victor in the playoffs. If the Eagles don't beat the Chiefs, does that mean that the Eagles are not built to close the deal? No, it doesn't mean that. When you get into the late rounds of the playoffs, you can expect that every team is very good, so winning or losing comes down mostly to luck. The Chiefs barely got by the Bengals. The Eagles and Niners game would have obviously been closer if Purdy didn't get injured. Purdy has been running the Niners offense very well, so it would be reasonable for the Niners to think that he wasn't holding them back.

No, it doesn’t. Hurts is an MVP candidate and 24 years old. Totally different worlds. Listen…do you. If you keep wanting to run out Trent Dilfers when Peyton Manning’s and Tom Brady’s win Super Bowls go right ahead.

I guess you know football better than Joe Thomas. Actually, you probably do think that.

Your arguments make no sense. The Niners offense was doing well with Purdy. I said it wasn't broken; I didn't say it was the Greatest Show on Turf. All I said was that before the injury, it would have been a reasonable decision for the Niners to continue with Purdy as the starter next year. I didn't say it was the only reasonable route they could go. I'm sure the Niners would do their due diligence and explore many different scenarios. Because you're such a genius, what would you do as the Niners GM? You sure make it sound easy to find the next Peyton Manning and the next Tom Brady.
