I see both sides of this, but just saying we shouldn’t expect better of officials is a cop out, period.

I can’t play in the NBA. Shit, I’m likely the last pick if we’re choosing up sides at the local YMCA. It doesn’t mean I don’t have the right as a fan to criticize poor performance.

Im not being dramatic at all. There are terrible refs in this league and i bet the players agree with me on this as well

Everyone talks about the dpi, but if they get the facemask on the prior drive the saints likely run out of time anyway

And hogan dropped that 3rd down ball against New England, the fake roughing the passer to keep another scoring drive alive, and the laughable overturning of the Edelman miffed punt were all embarrassing

Especially when 2 had replay


My only issue with the Dee ford call is that happens on almost every play and it gets ignored…until then

2) you won’t be so quick to criticize when they mess up

LeBron had every reason to be pissed.

The refs took a win away from the Lakers.

I've said this before. It's no if but when will a terribly missed call, or a bad call, cost a team a game in the playoffs?

And those bullshit two minute reports the league puts out. If the refs aren't going to be held totally accountable for their in-game mistakes then what's the point of the two minute report, just to piss off fans?

The league has a mess on their hands. And with how lousy the refs are it's time the league gives teams back their challenge if they're successful. In todays NBA one challenge per game isn't enough.

It's not even that the refs are so bad. It's that the have an impossible job and the league isn't doing much to make it less impossible.

Trying to figure out what is a “gather” step when you catch the ball and run with it like Bradley Beal did, that’s an impossible call.

Go back to hs rules for traveling and carrying and call them strict as hell


They won’t because that helps the defense, and we can’t have that

But that’s the thing, calling a random travel or carry doesn’t help when it’s not called consistently

Trust me, I get it. I’ve reffed for a decade

You don’t want to call it late because matter what you’ll get blamed

But if you don’t call it, you’re also deciding the game

It’s a no win situation

Most cannot fathom how many times I’ve been told by a coach “you can’t call that in this situation” but the reality is, if it’s a foul or violation 6 minutes into the first quarter, it’s a foul with 6 seconds left in the fourth

I could not possibly agree with this post more.

A player committing a foul late in the game is still the players deciding the game.

Celtics fans believe they would be unbeaten throughout their history if not for bad calls by refs. Celtics fans even blame the refs for the Pitino era.

And I can tell you from experience, sometimes you see it and still don’t call it. In the moment, maybe you think the contact was incidental or a million other little things that can make someone not blow the whistle.

I always found it a lot easier to see the action clearly when I wasn’t the one holding the whistle.

He was 5 feet away.

If he didn’t see it, he’s not very good at his job or crumbles under pressure.

Either way, the bright lights might actually be to bright for this guy and he either needs glasses or to be remediated.
