Wow.

All 3 1st round picks are unprotected? Didn't realize they were all unprotected.

Plus the 2 pick swaps and 3 pretty good players.....
Of course they are unprotected. Picks in the NBA are overrated imo. All of those picks are likely to be between 20-30 and a 2029 pick...that's 7 years away. Who really even knows. 2 swaps is nothing bc they are going to have the higher pick. The players are more important than the picks, that being said acquiring a ton of picks like Ainge has done can help facilitate a bigger trade. Less about the value of the picks more about the big picture in the long rebuild from Utah.

I think Murray is a better fit but that ship sailed. Maybe I’m out of the loop but I’m working from the assumption that Sexton would have been incentivized to get on the court and would have played on a one year deal or a one and one with an option. That would extend the time they have to trade the Sexton asset. Not sure the Cavs had to make this move now. I think they would have benefited by holding on to him. I don’t think the Mobley/Garland core is ready to win now anyway. And they really don’t have to be. Both guys are years away from their prime. Additionally, I’m worried that with two ball dominant guards, Mobley’s do all type of game and reticence to assert himself could quell his development on offense. He’s an elite prospect though. Maybe it won’t slow down the development of his offensive game in the end. Maybe moving Markinnen actually is the key to opening up opportunity for him.
Good with the deal and excited to see how it plays out but those are fair comments for sure. Only concern is possible they hold onto sexton on the QO and lose him for nothing.

Plus,

I mean- if Mitchell did not go to Cleveland he was going to New York or Miami. If he goes to New York- the Knicks are right in the same tier as the Cavs. If he goes to Miami- Miami is clearly a tier or two higher than the Cavs.

now the Cavs are much better than the Knicks and I think have a chance to punch just about any team in the East in the mouth if things break right. Not much separates teams #1 through 7 in the East.
Not sure ya saw this but for those who said he'll be looking to leave in a few years, and sure maybe he will, but if we are winning and he loves his teammates?.....

“It’s a great fit for Donovan Mitchell,” Windhorst said. “And I’m gonna tell you, I can’t tell you how I know, but I’m aware of when he found out. And I’m aware of when he actually found out about what was in the trade. And when he found out — he was on a golf course — and when he found out that Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Darius Garland were not in the trade, and neither was Kevin Love, he went screaming around the golf course, he was so excited. He’s extremely excited in this moment. I’m sure he would love to have been a [New York] Knick, that’s his hometown. But he’s extremely excited in the moment.”

@WiggyRuss @Shanemansj13 @dtgold88 ....

Bobby Marks just made a interesting point.

Either Mitchell or Garland would need to be gone or you are not allowed to sign Mobley to a 5 year max in 2024.

You can still do it a year later, if he's willing to wait, because Mitchell could opt-out.

I may have gotten some of that wrong. So, you might wanna verify.

But, he definitely said 2024 is out...for 5 years.

4 years, sure.

But, a player like him?

I'd do 5 years no options...lol

Can't let him get away.
Interesting but I trust our FO knows of the rule whatever it might be and took it into consideration as I'm sure they are doing everything they can to keep Mobley as long as they can.

He is a clear upgrade.

Better player, better fit, more upside.

But still not worth 5 draft picks.
If by clear upgrade he just needs to be better absolutely. How much better? Not sure...to me, Mitchell kind of plays like sexton critics say sexton plays and he's also short.

We will see with Bickerstaff. This starting lineup are all players that do play top level defense except Garland. Garland hopefully can develop like Steph defensively…maybe all that motivates him to be an average defender. Not expecting much defensively from him.

On another note, I think the Cavs are very happy to not give up Okoro and LeVert. They seem to love LeVert
I have a feeling they really love Okoro.

All this talk.....that Mobley and Allen will clean up for the small backcourt's mistakes.....well that is fine if they blow by the small backcourt.....but not if they are playing 1 on 1 defense......especially if they are facing a tall backcourt.....they just shoot over them.

His shooting actually wasn't that bad last year. But it definitely seemed like he was very hesitant to take shots. 6 shots in almost 30 minutes is low

Nets story isn't finished yet so pointless to discuss. They can very well win it all this season

Last season the Nets were the favorites to win it all. Tell me exactly which season were the Mitchell-led Jazz ever the favorites to win it all.

Now that Mitchell is gone, let's discuss how big of a failure that Utah group was

How can a team that was never favored to win it all be a bigger failure than last seasons Nets with KD, Harden & Kyrie?

The nets story isn't finished. What is so hard to comprehend? People won't give a fuck about last season if they win a title with KD this season or next

RJ’s expectations were too high. He got more love than he should have next to Zion in Duke. Can he be a decent starter/#3 option in this league for a long time. I believe that but the second he got drafted I didn’t think he was anything special
May have gotten lucky dropping to 5 in that draft as who knows if we take Garland at 3.

Yep...the Lakers didn't even make the playoffs in Lebrons first season, but when they won the title in his 2nd season, no one cared about that 1st season anymore.

Was last season for the Nets a failure? It's simple question. Odd you mentioned comprehension when you obviously lack it.

And I never said the Nets story is finished. You tried to say that nonsense.

Right now the Mitchell-led Jazz can't be a bigger failure than a Nets team that was favored to win it all last season. One more time. The Jazz were never favored to win it all with Mitchell. The Nets were. Do you understand?

But were the Lakers the favorites to win it all LeBron's first year in L.A. like the KD/Harden/Kyrie trio were last season?

That’s what I thought but there was a stat about the average space between him and the closest defender and it was 6 feet (something like that). Thinking about it like that, it’s not good haha. He definitely needs to improve overall offensively

I always been a big fan of Sexton. I dont get the hate at all. Don't think he's good as Mitchell but really good player
Agree. Kid came into league with shooting being a concern and with an obscene work ethic he has turned himself into an efficient shooter/scorer

And once again the nets story isn't finished. Makes no sense to compare the 2 when group is done and the other isn't and can possibly have 2-3 seasons left at minimum. They can literally win 2 of the next 3 titles for all we do

I remember watching a few games end of season and seeing that a lot with him
