Maybe you can try taking a reading comprehension course as we've been over this many many times.

When was the last time the Browns had ONE player who will eat up $55M per year starting next season?

Watching this circus is going to be fun. We'll see how many players they retain and or attract? Hell they had to do that insane deal just to get a sexual predator to sign.

They have 49 million to roll over for next year and 52 players under contract. Next year will be fine. After that the situation gets a little more challenging....but two years to evaluate what they got.

Can you possibly spin anymore?
Oh, the irony.....
you - no one wants to play for the browns
me - the Browns have signed a number of top players as FAs and retained a number of their own top players
you - like who?
me - Conklin, Hooper, Clowney, Garrett, Chubb, Ward, Teller, Bitonio and others
you - when's the last time the Browns had one player who will eat of $55 mil of the cap per year?

Is it lonely living in your make believe world?
Liar where did I say no one wants to play for the Browns? Hell sexual predators love to be there.
Hooper???

Conklin signed two years ago before the DW circus came to town. Not part of this discussion.

Clowney is on a one year deal and not sure I consider him a top player any longer. He ranks 21 out of 32.

I have nothing but time to watch you keep spinning.

I predict there will be more leaving than being retained over the next few seasons. They will tire of the DW shit show.
Now of course there will be a few that will stay or come for ridiculous contracts.

Spin it precious

You said the following in post 907...

"What top talent have they lured? The Watson shit show? Kept which top talent? They've lost as much as they have gained."

so, yes, conklin qualifies as he was the top RT on the market. Didn't work out but Hooper was the top TE. clowney among the top DEs and John Johnson might have been the top safety on the market when they brought him in (for sure was among the best)

They also kept Myles, Ward, Bitonio, Teller and Chubb among others.

Please feel free to name the players they lost to compare to who they gained/retained. I get you predict in the future more will be leaving and they might. But how about we live in the now and you own that your statement was - as usual - way off base?

In addition, when we signed guys to big deals in the past (like the Hooper and Conklin deals) the narrative was often, "OK, but how will they keep Garrett, Ward, Chubb and others?" It's almost like these guys found a way.

My apologies, though, for not using an exact quote for the first one. Here is the revised version of your spin....

Oh, the irony.....

you - "What top talent have they lured? The Watson shit show? Kept which top talent? They've lost as much as they have gained."
me - Conklin, Hooper, Clowney, Garrett, Chubb, Ward, Teller, Bitonio and others
you - when's the last time the Browns had one player who will eat of $55 mil of the cap per year?

Quality spin by you. Let's see how you spin this time while calling me a spinner....
me - who have they lost to compare to what they've gained (and retained)?
you - ?

The qb deals are what they are and the NFL will have to bump the cap for it. I suspect that will happen sooner than later.

QB contracts have zero to do with the cap.

Huh?

I know how the cap is set. The arms race for qbs is going to require an adjustment to increase the players revenue share.

What the hell is with you guys lately

If you really know, why would you suggest the NFL up the cap for QB contracts?

Are you so bent up trying to defend the Rapson (miss spelled on purpose) deal, you'll just toss shit against the wall in hope it sticks.

I just explained it to you didn't I? No. It's not just Watsons deal. Murray, Allen, Mahomes etc etc. This is the trend. It behooves the owners to steer a few points towards the players to cover their investments into the most important position.

You all are off the chain on this one. I've said multiple fucking times I hate the trade. You all want an echo chamber on this topic or actual discussion?

Not sure it will matter as much as seems the cap will soon be exploding not just next year but major bumps each year after. Might be wrong, but thought I heard could go up $30 mil or more each season for a while.

Wait? You know QB contracts don't drive the cap, yet you throw all the high paid QBs into the argument.

We’re using a projected salary cap of $225 million in 2023 and $256 million in 2024, as seen on OverTheCap.com. While the 2023 cap may be higher due to the influx of revenue from new TV deals in addition to sports gambling revenues, the number would still affect all teams the same.

revenue drives the cap not players salaries :suds:

It is what it is...what the market will bare

For now yes...the players share will be what it is. I did forget the CBA went through 2030. I was thinking about the NBA deal expiring in 24.

God help us when the NFL becomes the player league the NBA prides itself is

I don't think it ever will be. Too many players and i think people underestimate how much the visual experience of seeing the players faces at all times more easily influences that.

Other than qbs no one player can influence a game like a Lebron can either.

And that is why qbs are the highest paid position obviously.
