Kareem and Michael Jordan never had that option. It was a different league with different rules regarding player movement.

As great as it sounds when the old dudes say "I would never do that, I was trying to beat those guys". Something tells me that if they could have gotten say...8-10 rings instead of 5 or 6 by having 2 or 3 of them playing together...most would choose to team up.

And if Magic gets there for his talents chasing tail then we have to reassess things and put Wilt in the mix.
None of this is off the court stuff, Wilt doesn’t get included at the top because of the competition he faced for the most part. That and the fact that Kareem had a much more rounded overall game.

I just wanted to drop a joke. This was the only comment so clearly, I am not as funny as I think I am. This went over like a fart in church.

I wish everybody would just let it rest honestly. It’s two different eras so do your 1A or 1B however you want. Biggest question is would LeBron’s body hold up in the 80s and 90s because again we’re talking about two different eras
That's a fair point...we all know how much he puts into taking care of himself so fair to wonder if some of the advances he uses could have been replicated back then.

:L

He could very well have played less years back then than he does now which is the entire point there Cletus. His longevity has a lot to do with the style of play in today’s game
I think it's more to do with how he takes care of his body off the court.........but that still could make your case as guessing some things used to help him were not invented.

Look jackass I'm not playing your dumb little game today.

You think he wouldn't be able to play in the 80's/90's and I think he'd be just fine.
Not sure this was where he was going....but is possible all the advantages he can use OFF the court had not been invented in the 80s/90s yet.

I don't think it would have held up quite like it has in this era, but I think it would have held up better than a lot of folks think. He's built like Karl Malone.

If he played in that era, he also would adjust to that era. So, I doubt he'd be as good at his age in that era as he is in this one, but he'd still be pretty darn good.
Malone is a great comparison.

I don’t care if he would have said anything, but he damn sure wouldn’t have gone out of his way to bad mouth anyone that did.
Kind of hard to say as MJ played in a different time obviously....you have no idea what he'd have done with today's social media.

No didn’t mean it that way, was saying that the stupid stuff takes away from the good both on and off. That’s how it is worded actually.
Providing scholarships for hundreds of kids, building a school for them is taken away because of an offhanded remark about the play in tourney?

On that note....wonder if he likes it this year.

You obviously didn’t read all the reasons I listed. He does some great things, and takes away from them by not being even handed with everyone.

Yep, he's a quitter, once a quitter always a quitter. Jordan never quit or left his team on the floor that's what separates the 2
I mean, he quit once to play baseball again the n quit/retired again because things were going to be harder for him with no Pippen.

He left the court in mid game back in his early days. You can say he lost his competitive nature, Jordan never did that
when did he leave the court in midgame?

As they got older yes. But LeBron has always prefered pull up jump shots even though he did have the frame of the mailman and could’ve bulldozed many people. Like I said different mentality‘s and eras. Kobe shot from everywhere but he and MJ always try to take the ball to the basket. MJ would do it just to get to the foul line alone
I mean, in the last 7 seasons Lebron has made more than 51% of his shots in all but 1. Kobe never even hit 47% of his shots in any season. Made 36% at Lebron's age. Lebron is at 52%.

Once he hit age 29, MJ never made 50% of his shots again

I’m not saying Lebron wasn’t a good defender at all. Dude can obviously play. Again different position mentality and era. I just saw Lebron settle for jumpers a lot when I was yelling at the TV to go to the hole because of obvious mismatches and of course style of play in the league. MJ would shoot his fadeaway but overall the dude was going to the rim hard most of the time
Yet Lebron still made a higher % of his shots.....also took a ton more 3s and still a higher % of made shots.

I was reading somewhere that if you actually compare overall numbers from elimination games, LeBron’s are far better than his normal playoff averages and basically across the board. Efficiency, production, everything.

Jordan’s were actually worse.

The MJ is “more clutch” argument is really just a myth based on a couple huge moments in the Finals.
That and one in round 1....unfortunately.
