In the US?

Our men’s team sucks and our Women win everything.

I would hands down prefer to watch the Women’s soccer team over the men’s.
Me too. They win once in a while

Sounds like we agree.

Yeah I’m just clarifying

But yes the women claimed that despite them choosing USA soccer to subsidize the womens league and they asked for a share of the mens World Cup money

Definitely. Gender inequality in sports is the topic here though and I'm proving why it is justified. You made my point for me in the bolded above.

Who is arguing that it isn't? I think you're arguing against something that no one is arguing for.

Athletes, regardless of gender, should be paid commensurate with the revenue their sport and team generates and how good they are at their sport. I haven't seen anyone say otherwise.

Exactly what I said to start this debate. But people were bitching about Griner and are saying that the reason she got busted in Russia is because of the unfair gender gap in pay in the United States which forces her to work overseas. Go back and look

The govt disagrees

Otherwise title ix wouldnt exist and mens sports that aren’t football or basketball wouldn’t be the most discriminated against

I think Title IX is a separate issue and doesn't apply to professional sports.

It’s still saying that men should pay for womens sports

Which is the opposite of equality

Title IX is one long sentence. No mention of paying for anything in that sentence.

To be fair though, at virtually every university across the country, there are at most, 2 profitable programs...men's football and men's basketball. There are a few outliers, like UConn, where the Women's basketball team is profitable...but for the vast majority of schools...the men's football and basketball teams pay for all other sports, both men's and women's.

I really don't see a lot of difference in paying for every other men's sport and every other women's sport. Either way, it's programs paying for sports that their athletes aren't playing and that can't survive on their own.

I'm no expert, but it seems that it's about sports offered vs. not offered. So, if you have 10 men's teams, you have to have 10 women's teams. Couldn't have say 12 men's teams and 8 women's. The money part is that the vast majority of those sports don't even generate enough revenue to -pay for themselves...so 2 sports end up footing the bill for all of the others.

I’m not either.

I doubt many programs aside from the top tier in football come out in the black. And that’s only Power 5 schools. Hard for me to imagine many small colleges or high schools making a profit on any sports. But I do believe many small D3 schools keep football as a way to get 100+ male students enrolled, with all the income their tuition brings.

But you’re getting a horrible team playing them each game.

I am not a soccer fan at all. I watch World Cup and that is about it.

So I prefer to watch my team do well.

And the women’s field has gotten better. There are probably 10-15 teams capable of competing with the top squads.

No idea. I don't really follow soccer. I just pay attention to the Women's team when they're in the World Cup.

But, since the US Men don't always qualify for the World Cup and the Women's team always does...then there would be times when the men received no World Cup money while the women did.
Some interesting comments from Carly Lloyd recently on how the last few years were not a lot of fun on the US womens team. I have to think some of it was Rapinoe and the woke crap. I really enjoy watching them play, and I’m not a soccer person at all.
