Horrible call by the blue, but Flores never should have had the bat in his hands to begin with.

ZERO FOR SEVENTEEN LIFETIME AGAINST SCHERZER!

Absolute, unequivocal ownage.
For all of Kapler's genius in pinch hitting, its a bit ironic that it was a pinch hitting situation that he botched that could have cost advancement. But that is mere speculation. Casali or Duggar may not have gone any differently.

You don’t bring Timmeh in from the pen to face Goldschmidt.

You don’t hang your season on Flores against Scherzer.

Good for you. I cannot say the same. It feels awful. But 10 to 14 was special.
It's much less stressful now. It was a nightmare before finally breaking through.

I've become a HUGE Braves fan.
Unfortunately I can't see how the 88 win Braves pull it off. That pitching staff LA has is the best I can remember going back decades. Even better than 2010 us.

I guess I should root for the Dodgers. Every team I rooted for in the LDS were eliminated.

Fried and Morton are awesome, and they've got Freeman, Albies, and Riley on offense. Underdog for sure, but they've got a chance. It's a shame they don't have Ronald Acuna.

Now that the Giants are out, what I really want to see is Dusty win a ring as a manager.

I could be wrong..but this just seems like it's Boston's year to win the AL now, and LA's year to win the NL again.

Also, no disrespect to Johnnie B.
He's had some great opportunities to win a ring as mgr in years past and just never could, and I genuinely like the guy....but fuck the Astros. Sorry Dusty.

It would be pretty sweet if the Astros beat the Dodgers and Dusty gets his managerial ring that way.

I'll always love Dusty. This postseason can still be a success to me if Dusty finally wins one.
I was kinda rooting for the Astros to beat the Dodgers in last year's World Series, once the Dodgers got in to the WS and the Astros were close. It would have been so sweet to have seen the Dodgers loss to their hated opponent from a couple WS before and with a losing record to boot. Alas, it didn't happen and now there is added bitterness to this year. Stupid Dodgers.

Thought about this some more. Initially, I put a lot of blame on our hitters for this series loss, but I think you mostly have to credit Dodgers pitching, so I don't think it's a terrible failure by the hitters anymore. NL postseason games seem to often be low scoring. Even this great Dodgers lineup had trouble scoring (3 games where the Dodgers scored 2 runs or less, including 2 shutouts). We just did not get the timely hits.

I’ll say this, the drive from Fresno to SF is long if you win. Man it’s even longer when you lose.

And you're probably listening to KNBR the whole time. LOL.

Our bats ran into a buzz saw pitching staff, no question. But sitting the team for 4 days prior to the series killed everyone’s timing. Same thing that happened to the Tigers in ‘12.

I am not certain there is a way to fix this clear problem in the playoff structure outside of adding more teams and providing no byes in the WC round, though. And while I suspect this is what will happen starting next year, I prefer the current flawed system to the “fixed” system that will be in effect next year.

The Doggies pitching was just terriffic. We scored next to nothing in a five a set. But we blanked them twice and only 2 runs yesterday. Pretty damn good. But ... now that it's all over and you get to step away from the emotions ... you see things a little differently.
The doggies have been usoing some fashion of the wholestaff approach for almost the entire season. Yesterday was no different. Urais didn't enter until the 3rd and he left in the sometime around the 7th. Bold move by Roberts but they have been doing things similar to this for awhile now.

Made me wonder ... just ballparking now that it's over .... what if we had started Doval (or anyone else for that matter) and then turned it over to Webb in the 3rd. A 7 inning run brings him through 9. Don't think it changes anything ... but maybe it changes the dynamic of the game. Wewbb couldn't be any better than he was ... but the feel of the game becomes different ... or at least it seems that way to me ..

But ... this was still one of the most enjoyable seasons for me as a fan .... to see a team that was expected to finish around .00 (if lucky) pull out the BRIB .... just so much more than I ever could have expected ...
