No team has ever won 3 Super Bowls in a row. What if the Chiefs do it?

Oh yeah, they definitely can turn it around with a few tweeks but they also have to quit giving the opposition short fields with turnovers. Those are killing you guys. And you face some good offenses down the road. Need to step up the run defense for sure.
I think the run defense is fixable. Gay and Bolton in theory could be a better LB combination than we've seen on the Chiefs in a few years.

The pass defense is broken, though. Sorenson has been clearly bad for years and he continues to play an integral part in the Chiefs system. If one of the worst players in the NFL is playing 100% of snaps then your system stinks. If Ward stays on the field at CB, though, I wouldn't be shocked if the Chiefs defense moves up to somewhere around the 20th best D in the league.

Its not really even about short field with turnovers. Chiefs have just have too many. Not sure that will get better but it certainly couldnt get any worse.

When the Chargers beat the Chiefs, there were 4 turnovers and 2 backup CBs. Dont be surprised if the next game is way different.

The thing is if they're the 20th best D they're unironically a top 3 team in the NFL. They just can't be the worst defense of all time like they are threatening.

Agreed, although the Chiefs also have to stay healthy on the other end. Chiefs need Kelce and Hill with the way the roster is currently constructed.

That's probably true and a big drawback. They have mostly been pretty healthy, but you everyone is until they ain't.

That's also fair. Some of that is straight up turnover luck and some of it is just Mahomes being a very silly rabbit with the football. With that being said, even with the lolcow turnovers, Mahomes is leading everyone in CPOE + EPA outside of Teddy Bridgewater somehow. CEH may or may not need a benching though.

On the macro, they've, especially Mahomes, have been very good protecting the football so one would think there's positive regression there.

This feels like an odd time to bump given a similar slow stretch in the middle of their actual SB winning season. Their offense is as good as it was in 2018. Definitely not the time to write them off at all.
Are the getting a 3 peat? In this case no, therefore anytime is and appropriate time.

Ain't gonna happen.

Had they got that 2nd, possibly, but there are way too many good teams that match up well now.

along with Charles Haley, good point and funny too
Hey, I do remember those Cowboys teams. One of the great RBs, possibly the greatest oline ever, good WR, and a top defense. And a decent QB.

The game was different back then, though. People shouldn't tweet out stats comparing eras. For all we know, the way the Bills were built more resembles modern football than the way the Cowboys were built and maybe they'd be the better team with the current rules. But with those rules? Yeah, I haven't seen a more dominant team. Maybe the Niners.

As long as they have Patrick and Andy this is still in play.

And I guess Brady had 3 in his first 5?

Montana took a while to get his first 3.

Bradshaw wasn't even for sure the starter for a few years given Gilliam and Hanratty but his 4 out of 6 will stand for a while.

What does that mean for Mahomes legacy and the GOAT argument we are watching him make over his career? What does that say for Andy Reid?

For both I think it makes a case for them to be in conversations of best ever but it does not push them to GOAT status. Andy Reid would for sure be in the top 5 HC conversation to end his career with 3 straight Super Bowl wins.

Now if they win 4 in a row when no other team has won 3 in a row? Then it gets interesting.

Then even if Mahomes only wins 1 other title late in his career he would have stake at the GOAT title having won 4 in a row early in his career.

Reid with 4 straight titles added onto already his lengthy resume then enters a debate with BB as the GOAT HC, especially if BB remains in the league and AFC during this 4 year run.

Damn you're a jinx. Chiefs off to a 2-3 start. And a couple of weeks ago you said you hoped Mayfield injured his shoulder. That same day yer boy Carson Wentz sprained both of his ankles. Jinx!

@ChiefsLakers67

Figured out why your Chiefs are off to a rough start. RTK started this thread.

I had the same exact thoughts about the Seahawks before the Russ injury, if they had even an average D they would be very hard to beat.

Don't get me wrong. I love Mahomes and what the Chiefs have done to get where they are / were.
Calling 3 in a row when you don't have 2? Precious!
