No team has ever won 3 Super Bowls in a row. What if the Chiefs do it?

Oh, that’s exactly what happened in that game. Not rubbing it in. Just saying what I said the day it happened. The Seahawks were never going to recover from that one.
Oh yeah, Im as over it as one can be 6 years later. The reality is losing a Super Bowl sucks and thats why teams that lose one take a step back almost every time.

Sorry Chiefs fans but this is a fantastic thread of failure.

Oh, I didn't realize I actually posted so much in this one.

I think the furthest I'll go in this route is that the AFC Super Bowl representative this year and next will probably be the Chiefs or Ravens.
Not sure how well this will age with Jackson having some serious playoff issues but I think its probably still good.
Finesse teams will always be prone to mistakes no matter how good they are.
....and apparently they can have every mistake happen in the same game. If the Chiefs receivers got some of those old California stickum' then they probably would've gotten to at least 24 points. That backup oline, though. Man.

Just as long as it isn't a quest to get blown out in the Super Bowl three years in a row.

Going for the Bills-style version of dynasty?

LOL- but this place would be a circus if Mahomes lost 4 straight SB's.

That would be incredible at least because it would mean that the Chiefs would've broken the Bills' record of consecutive Super Bowl appearances.

What does that mean for Mahomes legacy and the GOAT argument we are watching him make over his career? What does that say for Andy Reid?

For both I think it makes a case for them to be in conversations of best ever but it does not push them to GOAT status. Andy Reid would for sure be in the top 5 HC conversation to end his career with 3 straight Super Bowl wins.

Now if they win 4 in a row when no other team has won 3 in a row? Then it gets interesting.

Then even if Mahomes only wins 1 other title late in his career he would have stake at the GOAT title having won 4 in a row early in his career.

Reid with 4 straight titles added onto already his lengthy resume then enters a debate with BB as the GOAT HC, especially if BB remains in the league and AFC during this 4 year run.
I thought this deserves a BUMP

I have to say that probably no Chiefs fan saw Josh Allen and Herbert coming. Almost everyone thought they were going to bust coming out of college.

Chiefs did come 3 games away from winning 3 Super Bowls. They'll have to settle with that.

When I saw tge question come up in the game thread, I thought about digging through the archives for this but then knew you would handle it @Southieinnc . Lol. Cheers man. :suds:
This feels like an odd time to bump given a similar slow stretch in the middle of their actual SB winning season. Their offense is as good as it was in 2018. Definitely not the time to write them off at all.

It's always an appropriate time to criticize a "what if"

True and I'm not going to write them off yet but the 3 in a row ship has already sailed thanks to Brady and the Bucs. I do think the Chiefs defense has regressed back to 2018 though.

I honestly doubt this. I think it's a shitty slow start compounded by mismanagement. We'll see.

Put Jones back inside, move Sneed outside, bench Sorensen for Thornhill, and keep Gay healthy are not especially crazy moves. You're just asking mid-level players to play at their previous levels for the defense to be roughly mediocre. It's the exact same dudes who played on average-mediocre defenses the past two years.

The least predictive thing in the NFL is defensive performance.

Oh yeah, they definitely can turn it around with a few tweeks but they also have to quit giving the opposition short fields with turnovers. Those are killing you guys. And you face some good offenses down the road. Need to step up the run defense for sure.
