I took this game on the radio broadcast. Playoff caliber contest - which win or lose helps this team get ready for the intensity of playoff baseball. Winning is the better metric so I hope that comes next.

All eyes on Dylan Cease today. Today presents one of the player development situations - that measure out the players ability to perform under pressure. Cease faces in Cole one of the top pitchers in baseball - in a nationally televised game in Yankee stadium. Ceases' offensive support has to come from guys not named Robert or Jimenez - with about 80% of Abreu still playing. Winning or losing won't be the test of character for Cease today - the test of character will be how he goes about doing his job - picking up his teammates.

Poor Dylan Cease - plays with emotion and it helps him and holds him back. He has to control those emotions while pitching - to pitch well. The start of this season shows Cease is in much better control over himself when something goes bad on the field or at the plate against him. That emotion for Cease causes him to over try - over compensate for something adverse to his control over the game. The game today will show just how mature Cease has come as a starting pitcher in controlling his emotions. I'm optimistic he will show mature toughness in today's start. It is better for Cease to be exposed to these pressure points now - rather than in the playoffs for the first time.
