I guess it is really going to depend on how fast they can get the vaccine rolled out. I sure was hoping that we would be able to go back at least by May without capacity restrictions.

Pretty much where I landed on it too.

So far the country has distributed enough vaccines for about 10% of the population and about 50-60% of those have been administered.. so about 5-6 % of the population has got one so far..
Hopefully the country and the states and the cities can begin ramping those number up..
Cause honestly.. we gotta pump those up.. those are rookie numbers

how do you view the opening day roster as we stand now? have we addressed the weaknesses of the defense and offense or are we looking at another year of poor performance?
I guess I have a different set of goals and therefore a different perspective. I am not looking fo answers to show themselves in 2021 on a lineup-wide basis. I want vast improvement by 2023. Now that will cause some definite improvement along the way, but not so much in our won-loss record for 2021. That vast improvement may very well show up in the minors in 2021 as guys like Huff, Jung, Wendzel, Foscue, Seise, Apostle, Crouse, Winn, Henriquez, Cole White, Phillips, and Alexy start to show us that they have a great future. Our defensive and offensive performances to start 2021 at the big league level, will not be done by the same performers as will be doing so in 2023, with a few exceptions. The only position starters who will most likely be starting here in 2021 and also in 2023 are probably Lowe and maybe Taveras, if Taveras starts in 2021.

no argument with any of this.

here's IMO is our probable opening day 2021 positional players:

Andrus
Calhoun
Dahl
Gallo
Garcia
Guzman
IKF
Lowe
Odor
Solak
Taveras
Trevino

the 13th player is up in the air but could be Apostel, Culberson or White

I probably should have added Dahl as a starter in 2023, unless we decide to trade him at some point.

It's going to be a rough year of growing pains, and that's not necessarily a bad thing... hopefully some of these prospects step up either on the ML team or in the minors... worst thing they could do at this point is sign free agents that will muddy up the waters

Agree, have been completely behind that all along.

I know the Rangers don’t want to buy free agents because they will block guys and the team isn’t ready but i do believe they have a little money to work with.
I wonder if we could be a salary dump zone for the Braves.. maybe the Rangers could take on Ender Inciarte and his $8 million Salary and he split time in CF with Taveras and possibly Will Smith and his $13 mil.. In return we could send Gallo and ?? Leclerc? Guzman? A Garcia?
The Braves would include 2 good prospects as well. Braves would get about $14 mil in salary relief so they could go after George Springer or Brantley or whoever they want.

It would be nice to land Drew Waters and one of their many pitching prospects.

I know the Braves need 2 Corner outfielders and possibly a 3B and a back up catcher.
They would be a scary team if they filled those 3 spots with above average players.
