Drafting a QB was never an option since they weren't getting Tua and Herbert isn't worth the pick. Got a complete stud at a position they can't can't seem to draft and develop instead.

What a win

And dumping Monqueef got their 3rd round compensatory pick back.
Speaking of.... He got claimed by the Panthers today.

You see that turd Mark Kaboly's tweet about the Steelers "doing him dirty" by cutting him? What a jackass.

And he's under contract on a rookie deal for 2 more years after this for roughly $2m per year, AND with a 2022 option. Unbelievably cheap & great trade acquisition.

It's amazing how good Drake and Minkah look when they leave Miami... That place has been a black hole for players...

Miami tried to play him in the box at SS, and kept shuffling him around the field.

We put him in at FS, which is where he belongs.

Fitzpatrick is
I'm happy. I think it was the right move.

Steelers suck at drafting DBs and really need competent safeties. Currently have 0 competent safeties.

Minkah is going to go right to starter at FS. Especially now that Sean Davis has a torn labrum.

This move says the Steelers aren't giving up on the season. This is them showing they have confidence in Mason. Mason is talented and looked really good in Pre-season and against the Seahawks.

Even if they had a top 10 pick, they might be drafting a safety hoping for someone as good as Minkah anyway. They might not have been drafting a QB.

Minkah is a leader.

Miami tanks, and the good players want out. Pittsburgh isn't tanking. They are still trying to win. They don't have THAT MANY holes. Mostly have to make some personnel changes, like firing Moncrief into the sun.

The middle of the defense has been the worst spot though. This is a big upgrade.

I think this ^^^^^^ is the first real positive post about the trade, at least that I've read. . I don't know if it'll last, but right now Fitzpatrick is looking very very Troy Polamalu-like.

I've been all in on this since after Week 1 and before Ben got injured, when the rumors started.

Phenomenal trade. His addition turned this defense from a sieve into a brick wall.

Possible DPOY player. It can't be overstated how much he transformed this Defense. It's like we have Ed Reed and Polamalu's lovechild back there.

He'd have been worth 2 firsts +.

The difference between looking at a top 5 pick, and not out of the question to being the 2nd seed.

This is a good story for the NFL, imo. You have a team making a risk and instead of tanking they are in the mix for a playoff spot.

Coming out of Alabama, I actually had Minkah in the same value tier as Quenton Nelson, Roquan Smith, and Derwin James. Brett Kollman did a good video on him on youtube and I took Minkah 7th overall (Bucs) in a mock draft on this site. A good safety is really valuable in today's league.

Its good to see that Miami was just misusing him.

This really makes you wonder how many GMs have ruined defensive players' careers by putting them in the wrong system or just being on a bad team.

This is a funny thread. Not just everybody slamming the Steelers, including some Steelers fans, but Miami didn't even tank yet got Tua anyway. Just goes to show you can never judge a trade, signing or draft at face value until the thing plays out completely. I have serious doubts the Steelers get better than Minkah with that 18 pick ( which was what the more level headed said the pick would be as we look back on the thread) and that 2nd rounder they picked looks damn good right now. And it appears the talk of Big Ben being done was a bit premature.
