KCP would have to be included and the trade still luckily gets rejected.ive said this multiple times, kcp is not a part of any Paul trade because he’s opting out. I laid out the 5 players they’d get to keep and still get Paul.

Bad for LA bc they have no depth. The Lakers will have plenty of other options for role players and high MLE options around $9M
Paul doesn’t have any trade value because of his contract.
The problem is the matching salaries, or lack thereof.

not true. They only need to get to about 31m to get to 75% of Paul’s salary.

McGee
Bradley
Cook
Kuzma
gets you there.
theoretically you’d put rondo and Horton tucker in there and keep McGee, but just showing the lakers and thunder have options.
The reason to make this trade is if Rondo wanted to go somewhere else, still even then this trade wouldn’t be ideal for the Lakers.Paul doesn’t have any trade value because of his contract.

I see Horton-Tucker getting an increased role next season. I think the Lakers could find another McGee type in free agency (underachieving journeyman big willing to play for the minimum). My need to keep Kuzma is waning after his spotty play in the bubble. Could be a tough guy to re-sign if he and the team are on different pages concerning his worth.
There are very few game changing opportunities available for under $17m in the NBA right now. Unless they're going to get someone still on their rookie contract.I'm really interested to see what's going to happen with the Cap next season. It massively affects what the Warriors will plan to do in the next 2-3 years.
Previously the Warriors were committed to using the 17M trade exception they have to acquire another player, but Bob Myers recently back tracked and said they'd only use it if it was a game changing opportunity. I don't really see too many of those around, but the league financials will impact every franchise so we may see some guys up for sale who weren't before.
Lakers need investigate this guy and get some meat on him. Skinny as a rail.
