OT: Bullshitting at the Barbershop

So...

I was at a "puck party" at my youngest Brother and Sister in laws.

My sister in law orders Burgers from bin 4, popular Victorian Burger joint that is expanding, at 7:30.

She is watching the app and is curious about what is this guy doing. She gets ahold of their skip the dishes customer service chat. Guy cuts the chat when she begins to ask for a manager but we found out what happened.

The guy drives by the house. DELIVERS OUR FOOD to another house and moves on to the next order.

Apparently Bin4 was having issues with skip tonight and we were 3 outta 4 who didn't receive their order.

Sadly I read this quickly and thought it said puke party.

So I was about to ask why are you ordering burgers from a good burger joint?

Seriously though we had orders messed up delivered from DoorDash and they reimbursed us right away no issues or additional questions.

They also take a large cut from the merchants in an industry that already has razor thin margins.

Was never much of a fan myself and then PBS did a great analysis of the whole food delivery service business a couple months ago and it the nail in the coffin for me. I'll still order delivery from a vendor that operates their own delivery service with their own employees, but not from these services anymore.

Which makes the drivers aggressive and incredibly impatient because they have to turn over a lot of runs. Went out to get wings from my favorite place and got there before my food was ready, so I stood nearby and waited. Driver after driver came in and demanded to be taken care of right then. My food actually sat there for 5 minutes after it came out because 2 Uber Eats drivers had all 4 people at the counter occupied.

And the people in the restaurants hate them.

So there was a march in support of social justice by all the athletes at Bowling Green today. One of the pictures they put on twitter was unintentionally hilarious to me.

See that little box on wheels? That's one of the campus food delivery robots. You order food and go wait outside your dorm with your phone. They track your GPS and bring you food.

And, apparently, they have had enough of all this police violence too.

It was supposed to be three fun filled days in Omaha with events all focused on Toni's projects or Toni herself. I even splurged at got the 'total Toni package' which was a meet and greet, a photo-op, and an autograph.

So true because with the food delivery sites you have a possibility of the double dip of people touching or doing something to you food. Whereas if you go get it the only opportunity is from the restaurant.

This too - I trust nobody and was a borderline germaphobe long before Covid (which I've mentioned here before and was laughed at - bet you're all still laughing behind your masks! ).

There's a litany of ways they can fuck with it too - if a food container falls & spills in a driver's car what do you think, he isn't going to just scoop it back in? Or pick a few fries? Ya no thanks.

Fun fact, well probably not, the shirt Swayze is wearing in that scene is from a hole in the wall store - Hide A Way Leather - about a mile from where I grew up. Jackets, belts, leather working etc, not S&M stuff - though I have never actually been inside so maybe. No one ever seemed to know how/where he got it. Supposedly he wore it in Tiger Warsaw too.
