Hopefully they plan to bring back Clowney and they are waiting until he can get actual offers from other teams
You don't think he has gotten offers from other teams yet? This he can not get a physical and that why teams won't sign him seems fake to me. Lots of players that were FAs have signed, some for a lot dollars. He's just asking for too much.

He has to believe that something will change that will get teams to give him more money.

Maybe he's been given offers but clearly none that he finds acceptable. We don't even know if anyone has offered him more than the Seahawks.

I really hope you're right. But we are getting closer to TC. We have to accept that is entirely possible that this is the team we are going to start the season with.

Let's remember that the Seahawks were content to start last season with DL that would have been pretty atrocious if not for Clowney falling in our lap.

Hopefully they plan to bring back Clowney and they are waiting until he can get actual offers from other teams and will match whatever offer comes along. But I just don't see it happening.
I am not really making a prediction that can be right or wrong -- just stating facts that Clowney & Griffen are still unsigned, and Ngakoue hasn't yet be dealt. Our options really haven't been taken away in terms of who is available at DE for quite some time. Camp may be getting closer, but it still doesn't start for well over 2 months if it will even take place on time. When Clowney signs with another team or if we sign Griffen, then that will be when we can say for certain that Clowney isn't coming back. Until then, I see absolutely zero reason to declare anything settled in that regard. It's all just speculation, and I'm not about to wring hands over it and talk myself into thinking the situation is really any different today than it was yesterday. I'm just not a worrier by nature.

Rumor was Cleveland had an offer for Clowney but that fell through at the 11:00hr.

Just heard a crazy rumor that Seattle is looking to trade for Miles Garrett from Cleveland. Interesting stuff floating around.

I could actually see them trading Garrett and pursuing Clowney...

I'd all be for Myles Garrett.. Guy is a physical freak. Yah he made a mistake but it's not like Mason Rudolph was acting like a saint that game either.

End of day depends what it costs us. KJ Wright shipping off? Eh whatever. KJ Wright SEVERELY lost a step after his injury.

We'd get him for TWO years. Next year he's $15M but that's cheap if Garrett produces like he normally does. If he gets his act together and continues to improve he'll 100% be a $20M+ per year contract in 2022.

Save a lot of cap money also. Although I haven’t looked to see what Garret makes.

Like $10M this year, then $15M next year (his 5th year option). But I'm sure Cleveland would ask us to share in some dead cap (which would be the full $10M this year)... so it'd prob. work out to $15M per.

Still, cheaper than Clowney wants... and Seattle doesn't necessarily have to share in dead cap... so $10M for this year would be great.

@blstoker where'd you hear this 'rumor' anyway? Because if it's from 'your' NFL GM in Madden I'm going to be annoyed...

I like that idea

I'd take Garrett easily with 2 years left on a rookie contract and something to prove, than Clowney in a contract year looking for a massive payday, even if it costs a bit of draft capital and what appears to be a washed up KJ Wright. It's a no brainer. Garrett is every bit as effective (with more upside) as Clowney..

IMO if the Browns actually did this it'd be an absolutely retarded move... which means it could happen, because it's the Browns...

Cleveland might be thinking a change in scenery after what happened last year

coworker heard it on KJR, though my internet sucks so can’t even get a search engine up and running to see if there’s anything about it out there. The hoop is all I’ve got working right now. In all, I thought it’d spark some conversation, if nothing else.

I guess, but why? Garrett is insanely talented, he apologized and was reinstated for a heated on field issue (not off field), has 2 years left on a rookie contract (which is CHEAP for what he brings as an EDGE), and is going to be seeking a MASSIVE contract in 2022... he's going to be on his best behavior and playing 100%...

ZERO surprise Cleveland would trade him if true.

Ah, yah I didn't see anything online (Google). I usually don't hold people accountable for posting rumors, I just called you out on this one because I want it to be true lol. :suds:

I doubt they trade him but the new coach might express different interest

Some of my old Army buddies (who are not Hawks fans or Browns fans) have also told me the rumor in the last hour or so. They're saying it's being reported on Reddit (not a site I'm familiar with) by some dude has correctly reported some other big moves like the Britt release.

It makes sense to me that a team like the Browns (not close to contending and probably wouldn't still have Myles Garrett on their team when they are) would trade a player like that to a team like the Hawks (ready to compete for a SB now and needs to address a major weakness to get there). What doesn't make sense from the Browns side of things is the part of the rumor that KJ is involved. He's gonna be 31 this year and is a FA after 2020. Maybe it's just the Browns care more about the draft pick compensation, won't have to worry about KJ's contract after this year anyway, and the Hawks need to do it to make things work with the cap? Maybe I answered my own question, not sure.

The rumor for Garrett comes from a guy on reddit who claims to have an in with the Seahawks, he also predicted the correct date Britt would be cut
