It's getting close to that time of the year again - Kinda surprised that Visentin is amongst the goalies invited after that meltdown against Russia in the gold medal game last year.

/Two Flames draft picks on the list - Max Reinhart and Michael Ferlund. I think Reinhart has a great chance to make the team.

Any chance we can expedite Canadian citizenship for Sven Baertschi, he's having another strong season in the Dub...

I looked and Mark Stone actually leads the WHL in scoring. He could end up being a star in the WJ's for Canada and maybe for the Sens in the future. I'm excited to see what he can do.

He's been tearing the Dub up all year.

The only knock on him from an NHL perspective has been his skating. It's improved but needs to get a bit better for him to make an impact with the big club. He's an exciting prospect for sure.

The funny thing is Tyler Seguin, Jeff Skinner, and obviously RNH are still eligible to play for Canada at this tourney...

Huberdeau is at best 50/50 at this point to be healthy in time for the tournament.

That's not good news, as he was a shoo-in for the team.

Actually that's what I thought up until just now. He has a broken foot and his expected return date was hovering right around the start date for this tournament. But now I'm reading that he is expected to be ready about a week before the tournament starts so he should be good to go afterall. :canada:

The good news about his foot injury as that it gives him time to rest. He's been very busy for the past few years without much of a break (no pun intended).

I've got to give a tip of the cap to Brendan Richton who was a 5th round pick in 2011. He wasn't even selected in his draft year. Now he has the opportunity to tryout for the Canadian WJC team. Good for him.

A lot of Halifax Mooseheads' fans are up in arms over the fact that Nathan MacKinnon didn't at least get an invite. The 16 year old has been putting up impressive numbers in the Q and is being touted as the next "next one". He's an early favourite to go 1st overall in the 2013 draft. He'll likely make the team next year as a 17 year old and that will be his coming out party.

Seth Jones is the same age only difference is he plays D. He's got a good shot at making the US squad.

Yeah, I've heard nothing but superlatives regarding MacKinnon...

yet another year with no canuck prospects on Team Canada.
Hodgson and Bourdon are really the only ones in recent memory.

a function of a lot of mid-20's picks, and taking players from Europe or the US college system.
I always feel a little bit guilty cheering for US or Swedish players in this tourney.

I'm not up in arms but I think the kid should have gotten an invite. Same goes for Sean Monahan of the Ottawa 67s. Just turned 17 and has 36 points in 20 OHL games.

If you want there's a fanbase in Long Island dying for a winner. So if you want to swap franchises by all means please do so.
