Is there a TE worth the 23rd pick? Will there be a QB left on the board worth the 23rd pick? I’d be just fine with an OT or DT there over reaching for a “need” position.
With no round two picks I think you have to roll the dice.

There is some talk that the Patriots have spoken with Bridgewater.

With all of the trades and signings so far, the mock drafts are useless as tits on a bull.

I would think that the Patriots would try as hard as possible to sign Bridgewater (Odd isn't that Brady's replacement will be TB??) and hope to snag a decent sized TE with #23. My gut tells me that BB will trade that #23 for an early Round 2 pick and possibly a fourth or fifth.

They will need a LB or two now that Van Noy and Collins are gone. Bill may be looking to attempt to keep as much of the defense together as possible.

I think we'll have to wait until Thursday or Friday before Bill bring in any FAs.

I think mocks as it relates to what the Pats or BB will do are useless every year, they for the most part are just us having fun and speculating. I too can see BB trading that #23 pick the Pats do well at drafting in rounds two and three.

Fair point. I don’t necessarily agree but I see the logic.

It's all a guessing game in the end.

The best thing that we can do, is just sit back and wait. With so many of us sitting home and with nothing else to do, we're watching way too much TV and trying to keep up with everything.

Here in NH, they're predicting that Friday will be our first 70 degree day. Guess what's going on out there today? It's 33 and snowing off and on. Boredom is our worst enemy.

I don't twitter, tweet or twat. If I did, I twit BB and tell him to get off his ass and do something to give the media and fans something to get excited about.........How about signing Foles and see if he can find that magic from a couple of years ago??

I’d be a lot cooler with trading for Foles than Dalton, that’s for sure.

The idea of Cam being in play is really intriguing if he’s healthy. Big if, though.

With franchising Thuney and re-signing DMac I wonder if they’ll have enough cap space for any “name” QB, though. Even accounting for re-working all their other higher end cap hits. Gonna be interesting for sure.

Miguel has them at about $3.2M in cap space atm. Gonna take some vigorous cap maneuvering to fit in anyone else at this point. Kinda seems like the plan is to put as strong a team steeped in the “Patriots way” around Stidham as possible and see what happens.

i mean they’re gonna need to open up prob around $10m in space just to sign rookies and have emergency funds available. Fitting a starting caliber QB on top of that is gonna be pretty tough.

Not impossible, but definitely tough.

I think that the Patriots will open up about $16M in cap space by this coming weekend.

First, once Brady has signed with the Bucs, they will JE11 and Muhamed Sanu to the Buccaneers for OJ Howard and Justin Watson. That's $13.6M for $4.1M and they get a 6.6" 250 lb TE and a 6'3" 220 lbs WR.
The final move will be to clear Patrick Chung and his $5.3M salary.

The Bucs will do it for Brady to add to the weaponry.

If Brady signs with the Chargers, JE11 will be with him in LA. JE's cap hit is $7.1M and Sanu is $6.5M. The Chargers have about $57M in cap space so getting Brady, Edelman and Sanu would not break the bank.

Trading Edelman would cost over $1m in cap space.

Getting rid of Chung saves less than $2m

Sanu is a definite possibility. Burkhead, Harmon, Gostkowski, Cannon may be more likely. Reworking Gillmore and Hightower are musts. Probably Shaq, too.

They paid market price for non-premium positions with DMac, Slater, and Thuney. Why? Because BB wanted their leadership for the post-TB landscape. Edelman is part of that, too. Especially given that getting rid of him would cost them cap space when they’re already tight to the cap and the rest of the WR’s have a season or less in the system. Anything’s possible obviously but IMO JE isn’t going anywhere this year.

Just say no to Cam.

Of the other possible QBs, I wouldn't hate Carr or Dalton at the right price. Otherwise just go with Stidham who you have cheap for the next three years. Don't use a first or if they trade a 2nd on another QB unless they really feel he's the future?
I wouldn't be surprised to see BB go draft and FA heavy on defensive players. Try and build the best D in the league and see if the O can do enough.

Lots of holes to fill now: TE, LB, OL, DL, WR and maybe a late flyer on a QB and hope to catch lightning in a bottle again.

It’ll be a patch job with money spent on the defense. Develin will be back and BB will put up a facade of a running team reflective of their 2018 team ...

and the Krafts will sell by 2022
