Saw a map of those testing positive state by state. Many had zero and the state of Texas was in the 11-50 range. The state of Texas in the 11-50 range? That is nothing. Denton County has zero. I know not all will report it but that is because most who get it will not have severe reactions but you would not know that based on the media who seems to be able to have way too much power to drive things in a certain direction. When you look at what the CDC or whoever has to say people just need to use common sense and not act like a bunch of idiots and think the sky is falling. Those who do not have it are NOT to wear masks. Only those who DO have it so it will not be coughed or sneezed into the air. The World Health Organization said that 80% of those who get this will have mild symptoms. I am not saying we shouldn't cancel sporting events or be careful but it has not stopped people from flocking to the grocery stores and buying up all the toilet paper and hand sanitizers. Here is what State of Texas Health Dept had to say:

High-Risk Population: If you are 65 years or older and/or have other medical problems like heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, high blood pressure or cancer are at a higher risk for getting very sick from COVID-19. If you develop fever or symptoms, call your doctor. If you are not sick enough to be hospitalized, you can recover at home. Follow your doctor’s instructions or refer to CDC guidance for how to take care of yourself at home.
• General Populations: If you are in generally good health and have a mild illness, stay home and take care of yourself like you would for the flu. If symptoms worsen, call your doctor.

the last 24-48 hours of closures have mainly been a reaction to the horror stories coming out of Italy.

disease experts say the US is roughly 10-19 days behind Italy in their exposure to the corona virus.

Italians did what the current government of the US suggested we do during February :

they continued with their daily routines and hoped that it would go away on its own. Well..... it hasn’t. Italy is going through hell right now. I heard that 200 people all died to the virus in a 24 hour span.

we don’t want to become Italy. In order for that to happen, drastic measures must be taken to at the very least slow the rapid spread of the virus.

disease experts have also said that the virus spreads like the cold but can be 10X worse than the flu if you get a severe case of it.

Be vigilant and try to stay safe everyone. The next month or so is uncharted territory.

Yes some say Italy was not proactive in getting testing done and limiting large meetings. I am in pretty good health for my age but I hate to think I might be a latent carrier for those who are frail.

It could hit the US pretty hard in the next 2 weeks. On a baseball note, I got tickets for the first Saturday game last weekend which is now canceled. I was out in public that day with some crowds. Now thinking that may not have been prudent.

I’m going to go buy a sandwich tomorrow, but then probably stay at home all weekend after that.

I was on my way to the Stars game tonight, and found out the season was suspended about 45 minutes into the drive to Dallas, turned around and headed back home

Probably gonna have to eat the loss on the hotel room, but we'll see about tickets being refunded/rescheduled at a later date

I absolutely agree with the fact we cannot just skip thru the tulips and go thru our daily routine. People just need to use common sense and good hygiene. Like I said I am not against cancelling these sporting events and being wise. But testing positive for this virus does not equate to death for the person who tests positive. But you wouldn't know that to hear it. This is the same media that when the flu season starts up can't wait to jump all over it and scare the crap out of people.

This feels different. Something is still very wrong here.

For some reason, we still haven’t achieved widespread testing capabilities. It’s impossible to know just how bad the pandemic is if you’re not testing people.

South Korea, China, and Italy can all test way more people than us. That shouldn’t happen.

China has had months maybe a year or more to develop testing procedures and they use force to control the population. Sk has a much smaller population etc. Italy has been forced to shut down the whole country and their hospitals and clinics are overwhelmed.
I agree we could be moving faster but I'm seeing us moving toward dealing with it thru quarantine, testing and research. Of course Dems/Socialists have no plan except to carp and complain. What should we be doing? Manufacture testing kits? Being done. Quarantine suspected cases? Being done except Dems/Socialists seem opposed to it. And we've take actions to cut down exposure su h as limiting travel from high risk areas.. Looking for a cure? Being done.
So what else should we doing?

Wow, been awhile since I've seen that much bullshit in a single post.

I wonder if the players are staying in Arizona in order to stay up to speed and be self contained so to speak? Haven't really heard. I know some of their families would be there as well.

I respect you Scotsman. I really do. We usually see eye to eye on baseball matters, but you’re a bit off base here.

this virus has only been in existence since late December. Not a year. The world stood by and watched as China did all they could to try and contain the virus, obviously....... China failed.

with that said, it makes me wonder what the US disease experts were doing in the mean time before the virus got here. The first step in stopping a pandemic / epidemic is always widespread testing because you never know how bad a problem really is unless you confront it head on. It seems like for the month of February we tried to pretend it wasn’t happening here and we just gave the virus more time to spread in our communities.

The initial US response was disjointed and uncoordinated. Let’s hope we’ve learned a few things. We must get this thing under control. For everyone’s sake.

Maybe, keep this one for baseball and one for the politics surrounding everyone's theory about what is being done about the Wuhan Coronavirus.

Take politics to the politic forum. I am for keeping this forum concerning baseball as is and not Dems/Liberals as stated by Scotty. That will do nothing for this board.
