Just got a feeling at some point the Lakers are going to have a terrible loss against an even worse team.

Hardly gets any worse than the cavs.

But hey if it does happen we might even get so see wiggy for a minute or two
Yeah it happens to every good team, sometimes you just lose to a shitty team. Means nothing.

Ok maybe not...
Yeah, but every time, I turn the game off to go to the store, the Lakers start winning. So they were like dead even and I ran to the store real quick to come back find them up by 12 or so points - I knew that would help them win

Lakers remain undefeated against teams under 500 - and I don't agree with the assessment that the Lakers can't beat the Clippers in the playoffs. I believe they have a deeper team and once they come together as a unit, they absolutely can hold their own against the best in the league. I do, believe, however they have a lot of growing up to do and will need to mature in order to do that

Sign a player or two, maybe Collison?

So here is what I am saying.

The NBA should get rid of the max contract setup. Let any player make as much as they can, while keeping the team cap the same. This will even out the league as teams will pay huge dollars for certain players and will not be able to put more than one on a team. I mean should Kyrie and Kawhi be making anywhere near the same dollars

Won't work for a few reasons.

If you keep the team cap the same, but allow players to "make as much as they can", you won't be able to have full rosters because, under the CBA, there is a minimum amount players can be paid. So, it still limits what you can pay a star.

The only chance to pay star players anywhere close to what they actually deserve based on the revenue they generate for their teams and the league, is to remove all salary restrictions and allow teams to spend as much or as little as they want (and a player will agree to).

The problem with that, obviously, is would all but kill the smaller markets. Teams like the Lakers, Clippers, etc. that basically print money can spend pretty much whatever it takes to get the best players on their teams, while smaller market teams would be left to make due with the leftovers.

Additionally, as others have pointed out, what happens when a team has a star player and they draft a player who turns into a star? Now, they are faced with having to lose one of those players. Basically, a team like we just saw with the Warriors, who were mostly organically built, would be broken up just as they were starting to reach their full potential as a team.

End of the day, while the current system is far from perfect, it's probably still the most fair to all teams. After all, we are now seeing teams that historically have been also rans, making noise and challenging for, and even winning titles.

Folks keep wanting to act like the NBA needs to be fixed, when the numbers all indicate that it's doing just fine and overall, teams are as or more competitive than ever.

Surprised more superstars aren't doing it. Yes there's some load management but not like Kawhi does it

This, imo, is where Kawhi trying to be "Secret Squirrel" (old cartoon reference for those who are old like me lol) works against him.

I honestly think there is more to Kawhi's load management than simply trying to make sure he's rested for the playoffs.

I'm not a doctor, I don't play one on tv and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night...but I think that whatever is going on is something that is something that is never going to get better (similar to Bo Jackson's hip) and the "load management" is an attempt to slow it down and prolong his career.

Imo, it's the only thing that makes sense when you consider how competitive a player has to be to play at the level that Kawhi does.

Hey, if Kawhi is Secret Squirrel, does that make PG Morocco Mole?

It's not that they can't beat them, of course they can. It's that it would be, at the least, a minor upset if they did.

The Clippers, without Kawhi and PG are a playoff team. They showed that last year.

The Lakers, without Lebron and AD are a 30-35 win team at best and that's assuming that everyone played the way they have been most of the season. '

The Lakers have the better starting 5, imo, but in the playoffs, depth often decides a series and the Clips have more of it.

Having said that, the difference in depth is looking like it may not be as pronounced as we all have thought.

Pelinka did a nice job recovering from not getting Kawhi, but he did it by taking some calculated risks that, so far, are working out for him. Danny Green has been very good, Dwight is playing much better than expected, KCP seems to have finally settled into a role that fits him and is playing well. When healthy, Avery Bradley has been a little better than expected.

If they keep playing like they have and no other changes are made, they would have a solid shot, but I think the Clippers still win. But, if they can add Collison, Iggy, or someone like them, they can make things much more even and possibly have the advantage if everyone continues to play well.

I do, believe, however they have a lot of growing up to do and will need to mature in order to do that

I sure as hell hope they don't have a lot of growing up and maturing to do. They are a veteran team with a lot of playoff and championship experience. Not together, obviously, but guys like Lebron, Danny Green, Rondo and even Javale have won titles. Dwight has a lot of playoff experience and has played in the finals and AD has a little playoff experience.

I am picking KC.

And so far I have correctly predicted an amazing 2 of 7 games this post season.

I know you all are impressed.
Entered 2 in a playoff pool. Looking good in one, other a disaster.
