The more I see the Thunder, the more I don't get why they traded PG. This is a good competitive team. PG would make them a solid playoff team and picking up another top player who fit well with him would make them contenders.
OKC won that trade

LOL.

Pretty early to declare that.

OKC got decent pieces just as Indiana got good pieces when they traded PG.

If OKC eventually builds a contender around SGA, then fair to say they win. If LAC gets a title, then they definitely win.

This deal could easily be a win for both, but far too early to judge either side.

Depends on how the Clippers do with George on the roster.

If they win a single Championship, it was worth it.

Plus, ya know...

They didn't just trade all those players and picks for George.

They traded them to get George and Kawhi.

Would the #1 seed play #16 in the first round?

That could be one hell of a mis-match

The Bucks finished with the best record in the NBA.

They played the Pistons in the first round.

If they went to a top 16 seeding, the Bucks would have still played the Pistons.

This is clearly a trade that worked for both teams given their situations

I would actually like the top 16 teams get in, regardless of conference.

Travel is the issue with that though.

They would have to treat it like the NBA finals in terms of scheduling due to long travel times which is probably why we may never see it

This has nothing to do with that

It takes 6+ hours to fly from Portland to Miami and 5+ hours from NYC to LA.

Expecting a team to finish playing 10 or 11 PM local time one night, do press conferences, get on a long 5 or 6 hour flight overnight or the next morning to go across the country then play at 7 or 8 PM EST local time the day isn't fair.

I don't know if you ever traveled but it is tiring and I'm not a professional athlete

2-3-2 format for the entire playoffs? With at least two days off between switching arenas.

Just spitballin here

I would be totally against that. 2-3-2 favors the team without HCA IMO

I say keep it the way it is now until the conference finals

Doesn't have to be for the entire playoffs. First couple of rounds.

Last year for instance, the Warriors would have played the Magic in the first round in that format. I seriously doubt Orlando would be favored.

All this is irrelevant to OKC winning the trade...

They got Gallo back to replace George, got an unbelievable talelnt on Alexander and a million picks...

The point is that trades are supposed to help both teams.

LAC’s goal is to win right now. Getting Paul George also helped them get Kawhi and now they are the odds on favorite to win the title. OKC decided to build future assets, and this deal helped them do just that.

Both teams can win this trade. Time will tell how it pans out.
