The rule being the problem was literally the initial point and was made by everyone you want to keep arguing with.

The rule sucks. The refs having to try to make some sense of bang bang plays under it sucks. The rule being vague enough to leave it so two refs under similar plays can't always 100% come to the same result sucks. These are the issues, not the actual call on that play under that lame ass rule.

And this is why it needs to be changed. As was brought up before, it's a horrible rule that was put into place so the NCAA can act like they're trying to care about player safety.

I don't see a path for changing it. Trying to do something to leave incidental contact out of it would only leave more room for interpretation and more anger as it wasn't always applied consistently.

look this is targeting in college football And is a crown of the helmet penalty in the NFL. There is no football field that this was not a penalty. The real issue is it is an ejection. This wasn’t a dirty play, but it is a play that people are trying to take out of football. I wish college would adopt the NFL crown of the helmet rule and just give 15 yards. Ejecting players changes the game and it should only be used in extreme cases

'fault' isn't the same thing as preventable. And neither is relevant. A bad rule was correctly enforced and cost OSU a valuable player.

If you asked most people would you throw him out if you had the power to decide and could make that decision outside of that bogus rule, I'd guess most wouldn't have removed him. I sure wouldn't. That too is not relevant to this game.
