Rey being a Palpatine pretty much answered every single question about her being a Mary Sue from episode 7 and 8. With that one simple explanation her being able to use the force so well with very little training, her being able to use a lightsaber so well with very little training, and her being overall gifted seemingly out of nowhere makes perfect sense now because of her bloodline.

Also this movie does more for Luke Skywalker and then the entirety of episode 8.

Also currently sitting at 86% on rotten tomatoes for fan enjoyment, pretty much almost double of The Last Jedi.

I’m so sorry, Star Wars fans. Such a completely random ass movie.

The only two scenes that we’re good:
1 Han Solo talking to Ben.
2. Rey demonstrating to herself and the audience that choice is what matters, not fate. But man, very little - if nothing at all - in this movie or trilogy leads up that cinematically or literarily. It’s. just. There. Like almost everything else in this terrible, random movie

Remember Poe, Finn, Rose?? Yeah. They don’t do anything any random character could have done.

Palestine is just there now. And he’s a grandpa. And he is going to suck both their force powers. But then Rey beats him with double-saber-action. Is this storytelling? Is this what Star Wars is about to y’all. What the random fuxk was all this?

Rey was defeated pretty handily by the Emporer but she only came back and won because she channeled every Jedi in history in order to win. And Luke actually told her he believed she could do it when he visited her as a force ghost. It was set up pretty obviously during the movie.

I was about to comment in this thread that Rise of Skywalker had the same Audience Score on RT as Force Awakens and Rogue One. Although thats kinda weird because I've always felt like R1 was better than Force Awakens.

Anyways, this is the weirdest trilogy ever.

Safe movie --- > Blow Everything Up ---> Another safe movie.

Weird. I'll probably end up seeing this at some point because the consensus from what I'm seeing online is that its decent.

It’s fantasy schlock instead of having anything to do with her character or humanity. It’s just flotsam.

Loved it.

Except for the first 20 or so minutes, it was an emotional roller coaster for me. I grew up loving Star Wars & still do, and several scenes really impacted me, especially the one with Chewbacca grieving.

Wasn't really a fan. I wish they had made 2 movies honestly. This movie spent so much time undoing Last Jedi that it didn't have enough time to do its own thing, which made the movie move too quickly imo. Definitely did have some good moments though and I thought it was the most unique of the 3.

The open with Kylo going full rage through.

I liked it a lot and will re-watch tomorrow or Sunday but I've got some questions.

What was Finn going to tell Rey? It wasn't I love you because he has a thing with Rose and connected with a girl later in the movie so that was unresolved.

Rey's origin story. Being critical her parents had an extremely force sensitive toddler when the resistance ruled so why not ship her off to Luke then? You have a legendary Jedi trying to rebuild the old way and the son obviously realizes dad is a bad dude. Option A is send her to the path of good and option B is to dump her on a garbage planet. Palpatine's kid is a moron.

Aside from that two thumbs up. The movie was satisfying and the fight scenes were great. Every time Kylo touches his saber it's a key moment. I damn near lept out of my seat when Rey force handed off the saber to him.

Thought the movie was great. So much better than TLJ.

Just watched it. Ending was horrible. Enjoyed the fight scenes. I think it would should have ended with everyone Ben, Palpatine, and Rey all dieing. How is there balance in the force? Again, the ending was horrible. How many times do we need to see a character die, then they get healed and come back? Wtf?

I liked it better than I thought I would (I read the spoilers beforehand, which were almost exactly right). It's not perfect by no means, but neither is any film in the sequel trilogy. I'd say it did the best it could given what it was left with from the first two movies, but it also could have done better even with all the mess. Quick example; like just have a large fleet. Having a death star laser on every ship is stupid and overkill. In the movie, I'm sitting there like "if they had this, why the hell did they waste so much time hollowing out a planet to make Starkiller Base?" It's logic gaps like that which present themselves while you're watching (not nitpicking afterwards, which you can do in every movie) that shouldn't be there. If someone just thought it out just a minute longer, you could correct stuff like this. All 3 films are littered with moments like that.
