I'm not inclined to defend captain khaki, but I think some of tOHSU fans here thinking being the best team in B1G is easier than it is.

For the past few years the B1G Landscape has been:

1. tOSHU

2. Wi, PSU, Mi
3. Iowa, MSU
4. everyone else

Probably a bit of oversimplification there. I just want to get into tier 2
I'd say the last 5 years it's been:

1. Ohio State

2. Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State

3. michigan, Iowa

4. Everyone else.

Penn State and Michigan State have won the conference, Michigan State went to the CFP while Penn State had a strong argument for it, and both have beaten OSU recently. Hell OSU needed major comebacks to beat Penn State in 2017 and 2018. Wisconsin has more B10 CCG appearances than anyone.

I'm not saying michigan has to be the best team in the conference, but that doesn't mean they can only just be a perennial 3-4 loss team, and that's all they are under Harbaugh.

I'm not saying he has to have a great record, but you can't be what, 1-10?? As the 3rd highest paid coach??

Off the top of my head he has two wins over top 10 teams. Against PSU and Wisconsin in 2016. And money isn't an issue. They could be paying him double that and it wouldn't matter. They need to overpay to land a guy that had the track record he did, and for someone that can leave at any point to go to the NFL. It's why A&M paid Jimbo 75 million or whatever it was. And he's like 1-7 or something in two years against top 10 teams. If they start winning 6/7 games a year, he'll get fired. If he continues to win 9/10 games during the regular season he won't.

I’m admitting my data is wrong. What is wrong with you? I explained why I said what I said. And since the data was off I modified my statement. Again, what is wrong with you?

How can you make a statement like that & supposedly forget to leave this season out? I don't believe that. It was just another failed attempt from you to do what you always do. Over-pimp Harbaugh. Anyway it doesn't matter. No reason to continue this topic. You're a homer. You just can't see it.

I probably sold MSU a little short, but I'd still put Mi up there, but splitting hairs really and I don't think being in tier 3 is unreasonable

You and me both :)

He's been a good coach, now AD for you guys

Father of the program. Considering where we were when he came here, he's did a helluva job. Changed the culture. No we expect to win and are pissed when we don't. Imagine 8-5 last year was a bad year. Hell, we would have canonized some one for getting to 8 wins in the 70s through the 90s.

Well no shit they don't, but they care about the things that money can get them and do for them at a program. There's a reason schools like Ball State are never going to be contenders outside of maybe a season they catch lightning in a bottle and go like 9-3 and maybe beat a P5. michigan is literally flying these kids around the frickin world and giving them more Jordan brand apparel than they could ever dream of. You telling me kids don't care about that?

Why does michigan have to overpay to keep Harbaugh? Where does it say that, or who says that? Why is Harbaugh the only possible coach who can go to a school like michigan and win 9 games a year and get his shit pushed in by OSU every year? michigan isn't some fledgling program. They're a blue blood who should be regular contenders on the national stage.

They are a blue blood, just not in today's landscape. They haven't been a top 10 program this century. Harbaugh has gotten them close to that. Michigan is probably the 10th best program or so since he's been there. Anywhere from 10-12 I'd say in his 5 years.

You need to overpay if you think you have the right coach in today's landscape. Or overpay from the outset. Brohm is making over 5 million a year at PURDUE! And I think he has them at .500, which to his credit is alot better than where they were. All these schools are flush with cash, with some exceptions. I'm sure Ryan Day will be seeing an extension here soon and be up in that 6/7/8 million range.

Wisconsin has thoroughly dominated MN since the 90's. You guys lead all time series by one. The program was dreadful for a long time.

I'm not sure which, and I'm going to use a broad brush here, Wisconsin fan annoys me the most

1. The haughty arrogant ones that think they're up there with Bama, tOHSU, etc
2. The ones who think since they haven't won a national title they're disappointing

Michigan State had higher highs and lower lows than Michigan so it could go either way.

You're right, he was 2-10 coming into this season. As things stand, he's 2-11, could be 2-13 depending on if PSU wins their bowl and Wisconsin wins their's assuming they lose the CCG. That's pathetic. Again, he is the 3rd highest paid coach in the nation. What are you paying him that much money for when he isn't accomplishing anything?

And you're comparing him to Texas A&M now? A program that has one double-digit win season this century? And how is that working out for A&M, by the way?

Are you saying, if you're a college football fan, you'd rather your team wallow around in relative mediocrity with a guy who honestly looks like the game has past him by, as opposed to going and grabbing a younger, hungrier head coach who might actually energize the program, and for much less money?

It is when you're the highest paid coach in the conference and 3rd highest in the country.

Michigan fans are more annoying to me because they have no problem talking shit about Fleck and how he sucks as a coach because Wisconsin bombed Minnesota but ignore the fact that Minnesota kept the game closer than michigan did despite having a much less talented team.

So why are you paying a guy top 3 money to be a fringe top 10 program? Where's the logic there? They're a blueblood in today's landscape in terms of everything regarding the program other than winning, and that comes down to coaching.

You need to overpay if you think you have the right coach. Who in their right mind would say Jim is the right coach though? Brohm is making a mint because he actually looks like he's making a difference at a school that has been a bottom-feeder for the majority of their existence. Pound the hell out of an Urban Meyer team and bring in some 4* kids to a program that isn't used to it, and yeah you're gonna get paid. Harbaugh can't do the former, and despite having loads of talent, can't beat the truly elite teams.

We'll see with Day. Right now, we look like we're getting a bargain. If he keeps this up for 3-4 years when Urban's kids are gone, then he's going to get paid more than $8m. Might be closer to double that.

I would take PJ Fleck over Jim Harbaugh as a coach right now and it's really not close at all.

Good Gawd, if I ever fall into those groups, call me on it. Our reputation right now is sitting just on the outside. Cool. I'll take it. Since I have few years left on this planet, it would be nice to make the payoffs just once but we ain't there yet. We are consistently good but not great.

It is good to see Minnesota make a jump, Illinois breathing and I hope Shiano(sp) finds some success at Rutgers. Nothing against Ohio State, but domination of a conference by one team is boring. I remember the Big 2 Little 10 days all too well.

It’s funny watching Michigan fans use Minnesota or Michigan State as a measuring stick as if the programs should be anywhere close to what Michigan should be..

I realize not everyone falls into group, but it's not unusual for me to lump all fans into one group. It's the internet

I hate the badgers and their program

But I have a lot of respect for what they've done and would like to see MN get to their level in both Bball and fball

It was an assumption. I assumed wrong. The teams were closer than I thought. Literally that simple.
