I think most would agree that he might be a capable back-up but his problem seems to be he thinks he's starter material and wants to be paid as such. Not sure if that's still entirely true but teams don't need the headache from the media for an average back-up QB.
Well, if he wants back you take the role the team gives you, plain and simple then you try to earn a starting role.

When did he turn down an offer?

Elway offered Kap a shot at playing for the Broncos but Kap didn't want to take the $5M pay cut for that season. Which, in my opinion, was stupid because if he'd played well the Broncos probably would have opened the wallet for him before the next season started.

"First, here’s what happened in March 2016. The Broncos needed a starting quarterback, after Peyton Manning retired and Brock Osweiler (more on him in a second) left via free agency. Kaepernick had a contract that paid him $12 million for the coming season, and it was due to become fully guaranteed on April 1 of that year. So if the Broncos traded for Kaepernick, they would have been saddled with his $12 million salary.

Elway wanted to pay less. Kaepernick didn’t want to take less, and he had no reason to take less. He had undergone a trio of offseason surgical procedures, he wouldn’t have passed a physical before April 1, so he was getting $12 million for 2016, no matter what. Thus, while Elway clearly wanted to trade for Kaepernick, Elway didn’t want to pay Kaepernick as much as Kaepernick could have gotten from the 49ers"

Elway’s Kaepernick comments could be problematic for NFL

John Elway says Colin Kaepernick turned down chance to join Broncos in 2016

“I said this a while ago: Colin had his chance to be here,” Elway said during a training camp press conference Thursday. “We offered him a contract [and] he didn’t take it.”

I agree. If he really wants to play, he will take minimum salary and hold a clipboard or whatever it takes and work his ass off in practice to impress the coaches. Lots of guys do this in the league and wait to get a shot.

That's already been addressed in this thread.

Kaep chose to kneel at a Veterans Day celebration when they had vets from many wars on hand. People who had friends and family return to the US in a box draped with the flag he was protesting against. He should have taken that day off. It was very disrespectful to the vets.
The pig socks were pretty shitty as well. I know most cops find that very offensive.
The Castro shirt was in bad taste too.
His girlfriend brings an element I don't think any team wants.

Kaep was a straight up baller before the take-down by EvilCorp.

He deserves to play again. Hope he has a good work out. Go Kaep.
You haven't watched him play in 5 years I guess.
He was a straight up crappy QB his last 2 seasons.

I am very okay with this. But I think I look at things a lot differently than others do.
care to explain? im honestly just curious. I feel like this is 100% part of his "settlement" . When does the NFL ever set up workouts for a player. Its short notice, its on a saturday when all teams are traveling, and most of the people that matter are tied up. Just seems like they "had" to

Ok. You asked so...:noidea:

Read the bottom of the first page of this thread. Bringing up the Broncos thing is just about as relevant as saying that Kaepernick received an offer from the Niners after they drafted him.

I agree. Teams had him figured out. He was a one read QB who would take off running if his first option wasn't there. And he had zero touch on his throws. He only has one throw: the 90 mph fastball. Even if the receiver was only 5 feet away Kaepernick would launch the Nolan Ryan express at him. I rarely (if ever) remember him just laying a nice soft floating touch pass over a defender's head into the arms of his WR.

You still do. At least we saved ourselves from further scrutiny by trading for Mack. Still better than giving Dak 35 million a year.
lets see, dak wins, dak has the highest QBR in the game, and the 7th highest qb rating, doing something right. you chicago guys really dont get talent evaluation

Kaep said from the outset it was not about the military the media spun that lie and the idiots bought it hook, line and sinker.

The Pig socks were stupid for a lot of reasons. 1. The NFL has a uniform policy if the league had any sack they would have sent him the locker room. I don't remember the Castro shirt and who cares what his girlfriend say's or does?

You idiots keep trying to lump protests against racism and police brutality with anti-Americanism.

It isn't.

A commie GF does not help. He should dump her.

Sure. You Pittsburgh guys must love the smell of your own shit since you keep your head in your ass at all times. Dak is all right. He’s not great. A lot of QBs could succeed in that offense with those weapons and oline.

Read the bottom of the first page of this thread. Bringing up the Broncos thing is just about as relevant as saying that Kaepernick received an offer from the Niners after they drafted him.

How is it irrelevant? He was in fact offered a position as a QB for an NFL team. He just didn't want to take less money. And this actually came AFTER Kaepernick voluntarily opted out of the 49er contract that he already had in place that would have paid him $14.5M in the 2016 season. Kap figured he was worth more than that and decided to take his chances. Well, that didn't work out for him and now he wants to blame his bad decisions on some bogus charges of collusion and racism in a league where 72% of the employees are black. He just can't accept that he made a bad business decision, he thought teams would overlook his on field activism, and he just honestly wasn't that good as a QB in his last couple years. So he's looking for someone to pin the blame on other than himself. That's how I see it anyway.

It's been reported that the NFL put it together. It seems to come out of nowhere, and the teams and Kaepernick have been given very short notice. Pretty weird.

He's good enough to play in the NFL. Can that really be denied based on some of the QB play we are seeing?
Exactly!!!
