Passing attack is the weakest area of the team but I don't know if I would call it subpar yet.

If you're averaging over 5 yards a carry on offense and your defense is giving up about a TD a game you're just not going call for an aggressive passing attack regardless of who you're QB is.

Just need to see a game where they have to throw it around to keep pace with the other team to win to get a feel for how good or bad the passing attack is.
I agree @Jikkle . You don't need to open up the passing game with that efficiency running and a defense that is stifling teams. I still want to see how they do if the running game gets shut down for a day and a defense shuts down Kittle. Sanders definitely helps in that regard. They needed to make that move and then we will know for sure on JimmyG. Some big games coming soon. It's looking good for you guys though and good on them. Good luck.

Quality of opponents faced matters. Unless you think Buccs and Bengals are powerhouses.
The Niners strength of schedule so far is pretty weak at .314

Only one lower, at .250 ......is the Patriots

Some of that is tautological, if you don't lose your opponents will all have better SOS. But it's still a fair point.

At this point all you can say is SF is a playoff lock and one of the better NFC teams. We will know for sure where they are after playing GB and NO

When you look at their schedule you have to take into consideration how they win and not just the fact that they've won.

Their quality of wins has mostly been strong especially on the defensive side of things so that typically means that you're a legitimately great team.

The main reason they are being questioned is because they lack a recent track record of success but having watched all their games they are indeed a legit team.

They have a tough schedule in the second half of the year so they'll pick up a few losses but even picking up a few losses doesn't mean you're not a legitimately good team either.

I think it's really close between the 9ers, Saints, and Packers and any of those teams are fully capable of beating the other.
You are crushing it in this thread

Okay I'm calling it now.

San Francisco vs. New England in the Super Bowl.

We get to see Jimmy G vs. Tommy B.
Patriots D is legit too, they win that game like 17-6

One aspect that flies under the radar for the 49ers is they've been pretty good on converting 3rd downs especially compared to last year.

Despite all the things you can knock Jimmy G he has been pretty great at hitting a man (mainly Kittle) to convert 3rd downs.

And that's typically underrated to a certain extent because converting 3rd downs does demoralize a defense and it means you're possessing the ball even longer which when you're running the ball as much as the 9ers does wears out a defense and keeps your own defense fresh.

Yup. They could be an 11-5 dud who loses in the first round of the playoffs, or they could be a 14-2 powerhouse that goes deep. But playing good teams is how you determine that, not garbage like Washington and Cleveland.

You forgot Cincy

49ers are a nice little story to this point. But good luck getting through the NFC. If that happens, The Hoodie and the GOAT awaits.

LOL, we will worry about that when we get there. Only seven games in and still have to play almost every divisional game. I just hope to avoid any more injuries this year.

Where are the league leaders?

Tops in the league in sacks are Shaq Barrett & Myles Garrett at 10, but Bosa's sacks per defensive snap are higher than both of theirs (slightly higher than Myles).

Not that I think Bosa is better than Myles, but the fact that they're even close is vastly exceeding my expectations.

That's a big key. If the Niners stay healthy, especially the Dline and Kittle, they are in great shape. But that's why we have to wait and see. Don't wish for injuries to anyone but they happen and can derail an otherwise promising season.

The answer is, great defense, and shanahan zone blocking scheme. Nobody runs the ball better than the shanahans. League leader cook is using the same scheme

Their games are never on in the Midwest. I've been waiting to see them play. Checking some stats and nothing is really all that impressive. Heard they have a good defense. Please enlighten me.

Not that complicated. It's actually an age old tale.

Great running game, great defense, great coaching and efficient QB play.
