No biggie. Problem is the present ownership is having to pay for someone else's mistake which handcuffs them some and can make them weary of doing something like that again so they may be hesitant on spending that kind of money.
then they will never own anything but a below average franchise

Hogwash Scoty. Give them a chance. Wasting explained that they were paying for previous owners mistakes. That is soon to end. Give the present owners an opportunity before you go writing them off. You may be right but to quick to judge.

Hey guys, Prince and Choo were acquired with the present ownership already here. They had been here for 3 and a half years by then.

The residual part of ARod"s deal has been very insignificant over the last fee years. His deal has bot been the problem over the last few years.

It was still money ill spent. Once we are clear of the past then we may see a change of heart in spending. We can hardly know what will happen but it is easy to understand them not wanting to spend till these issues are gone away and some of the money comes back home.

They either have to trust that JD learned his lesson and will spend more wisely, or they will have to find a new GM.

They can't let past mistakes cause them to be scared to spend. If they are then maybe they need to sell the team.

By spending wisely, I am referring to how it is spent and not the amount. They haven't spent too much, they have spent foolishly.

The main problem was a missed fly ball and blow save. Others might say trying too hard to keep a window open. But yes the Prince deal hurt

The Trade for Prince and Cole is on JD. All these recent TJ rejects are on the owners

Owners got a great business deal for club with all the money Arlington poured into the new stadium. We shall see if they will be willing to up their baseball payroll

I was referring to the problems post-2012.

The main problem you mentioned was a bad managerial decision not to put in Chavez. Bad managerial decisions can be traced to the guy in charge of hiring and firing managers as well.

What I am saying is that if they are going to put big money with long contracts they may have cold feet and will want to be very sure. Many on the board wanted Choo because he got on base. But not now. The Fielder thing was not well thought out. He was damaged goods. There can actually be a lot of really good decisions made where you get quantity and substance. So do you spend big for a player or two or do you make some really wise moves that solidify your overall team. We gripe about the TJ guys and we should but we also have Lynn and Minor for a reasonable amount. But in either case we will need to spend it is just what is the best way to go about it. Many of the teams doing well now have solid contributors who came up thru the minors (many position players) with a few solid players brought in to round it out.

I would love to build a team through the minors, but we have lacked too much in drafting and developing to do that.

Should we have a playoff discussion thread or talk here?

astros are struggling at the trop. I’m hoping the rays can at least wear down their pitchers and give the yanks the advantage in the ALCS.

So the Padres are taking a look at Ron Washington for their managerial position.
Lol. Any GM even considering Wash for a manager should be fired on the spot.

I don’t like the team because of their fans. Astro fans are insufferable haters and the city of Houston hates the cowboys for no reason. We aren’t rivals and play in the opposite conference.
