the movie was a success? i think i only saw that within the past 5 years as well and... don't recall thinking fondly of it.

never heard of night gallery, will check it out (well, at least i see 1 season of it is available via imdb tv) so will see how that season goes .

Night Gallery was Rod Serling's 2nd version of Twilight Zone. I mistakenly posted the name as that. That's the ear thing. Whatever, still awesome. ;)

Night Stalker was a huge TV movie success at the time. Check it out. The series? No, it was bad, but as I've stated, it was a guilty pleasure.

Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead is another I found while browsing to find a good flick. Not into zombie movies but this one is pretty good.

Watch the original movie, bro. It captures the spirit. :)

I’ve watched it a few times. Discovered it a while back while trying to find something to watch. Turned out to be a pleasant surprise and a recommend for other people to watch.
great movie. while I guess on the subject of the horror based tv shows thrown out Reaper might be able to enter that spectrum, which is where I first saw the greatness of Tyler Labine. Sad he got so many shitty pilots in between (sons of tuscon, some HIMYM wannabe, etc) He did have a good show on Hulu (at least for the first season or two), the name escapes me, but he sees ghosts, so horror related. (he was also a staple of the writer of the best x-files episodes, Darin Morgan).

I remember that ABC did a remake of it many years ago with Stuart Townsend and Gabrielle Union but it bombed in the ratings and got cancelled after around 6 episodes or so.
network TV needs a better way to figure out how to present stuff. non-horror, but I started on lodge 49 when it premiered last year and wasn't getting it, as the season progressed, it all started to come together and as season 2 is close to ending, it's pretty great. embrace the zugzwang will now be in my lexicon until the end of time.

French? Son of a b.
it's really good. it's also dubbed in english, though i haven't tried that out. one of my "horror" movies of this october was Versus. it was terribly dubbed in english and just a terrible movie overall, probably only considered in the horror realm because people came back to life in a forest (one of 666 portals on earth, i guess) was a shit film that people want to put in the cult cannon, no thank you.

Fully agree. This season has been a tv season where I’m not the least bit interested in over 90% of network programming. There are a couple of shows I’m giving a chance but wouldn’t be upset if they disappeared either.

It did. I'm curious about something. What is your all-time favorite horror movie?

Got a request for anyone that wants to answer...

Give me your top 5 horror TV shows.
This can be all-time or just current favorites. Or hell, if you're bored enough give me a top 10 (or however many) to encompass both. Or if you're lazy just give me some good recommendations!

I need to get into more horror TV shows. Seriously lacking in that department. I'm looking for great TV shows with an emphasis on horror.

Shows I have watched:
The Twilight Zone
The X-Files
Tales From the Crypt
Penny Dreadful
American Horror Story (not this newest one yet)
The Walking Dead
Stranger Things
Supernatural (didn't watch the last 3-4 seasons, because honestly I'm not sure why I made it that far... Tailored to teenaged girls lol. First couple seasons were better for horror, but now its just a sci-fantasy drama).
Ash vs Evil Dead

My wife & I just finished Black Summer, and honestly I thought it was garbage. She liked it. Not a bad story, just not a fan of the characters or acting at all. And the Tarantino-esque production gets tiresome quickly.

Still need to get into NOS4A2. Also heard good things about Hannibal & Bates Motel. Haven't taken the plunge yet.

Damn top 5 horror TV shows? Let's see...

Penny Dreadful, The Haunting of Hill House, American Horror Story and Stranger Things stand out for me as the best Horror TV shows right now. The Haunting on Hill House on Netflix was amazing, I'd HIGHLY recommend that one. The Exorcist TV show on Fox was really good. Tied in with the original movie pretty well also. I believe there were 2 seasons before it ended. Slasher, which has two seasons on Netflix, is another anthology style horror TV show. The first season was pretty good, 2nd was better, in my opinion. I would also recommend taking a glance at the anthology horror series Into The Dark on Hulu. I will say, some of the episodes are hit or miss, but there are a couple on there that really hit hard and in all the right places.

I liked Reaper. Not sure what other shows Tyler was in without looking on IMDB.

so far, i think i might have recorded like 3 new shows, but Evil is the only one on my dvr after a week (can't recall what the other two were, think one was a kal penn comedy that was terrible, and the second was similarly bad). also saw i had the neighborhood recorded from last year, didn't even bother watching the premiere, it was so bad last year. tried out roseanne, kept that on for some reason, dropped it (the old form of comedies from the 90s just doesn't work anymore). oh, i will say, i did give stumptown a try and that is a second new show i'm giving a shot so far. so evil and stumptown, why not. wanted to try out the series with michael sheen who's son is a detective or something trying to catch serial killers where michael sheen is a serial killer, but based on the promo photo, it looked too campy. high hopes i don't watch episode 2 of evil and it's shit, the pilot was pretty fucking good for a network show.

Been a long time since I've watched it, but I do recall it being a fun & wild Z flick. Good use of gore.

My early review here: Horror Movies

I’ve been meaning to give Evil a shot. I have watched Prodigal Son and it’s not bad and Sheen is definitely the best person on the show. The other one I watch is Blacklist, which I believe should end this season. I’ll probably watch the final episode of Criminal Minds, even though I stopped watching close to two years ago.

Heard great things about Haunting of Hill House. A lot of ratings lists have it as the best out right now. Thinking I may have to jump into that.

Anyone watch any of these:
Hannibal
Bates Motel
Strain
Alfred Hitchcock Presents
Channel Zero
Twin Peaks
Scream (TV series)
Masters of Horror
NOS4A2
Hemlock Grove
Z Nation
The Purge (TV series)
Two Sentence Horror Stories

I believe I have heard a few of these mentioned in this thread. Just don't remember who.
